We have a Tusker House breakfast reservation on 12/18 (a Saturday) at 8:05 am. I know we get in before the park opens but just wondering where we should head to afterwards to make the best use of our early entrance. I assume by the time we are done the crowds will already be coming in. TGM has the day listed as a 5 crowdwise with AK being the best park of the day. I'm thinking of getting FP's for Everest & then heading over to the Safari. Would that be the best idea? Since we're getting up so early for this, I have to make it worthwhile for my DH!

Don't post TGM (or touring plans or Ridemax) date-specific subscription details; it's not permitted on the DISboards.

Your plan is workable or you may just want to get Safari FPs (Tusker House is right next door to Safari) then walk over and ride EE. That's what I would do.

Go ahead and ask for your ticket as soon as you are seated and order your drinks. That way when you are finished, you won't have to wait around on the check, and you can get out quicker! I would go ahead and ride the Safari since you are right there, and the animals are out much more stirring around early in the morning.

I agree with PP: ask for your bill early on and you will likely be finished by 9 a.m.

We don't like to do too much backtracking so our plan (first time any of my non-adventurous kids will try EE!) is to ride the safari right away and then send a FP runner, likely me, to EE while the boys and other parent walk Pangani trail and then we'll meet up for the first Festival of the Lion King Show. Without a runner, I would probably head to EE and decide there, based on wait times, whether to ride stand by, get FPs or both!

1) You can't leave the eatery before 9:00am.
2) You can get a minor jump on folks going to the Safari.
3) But, you are slightly behind others going to EE.

You can leave the restaurant but there is rope that keeps you in the general area until the main crowd heading to the Safari nearly catches up (it's an awe-inspiring sight watching the teeming horde of humanity bear down on you!)

:scared1:

I recall standing at Cinderella's Castle watching the incoming crowd moving down Main Street and being scared! Hopefully it's not like that at AK. Yikes!

When you are done with breakfast, you can wander around the shopping area right in front of TH. They will have a rope in front of safari, so you will be the first ones on the safari ride or the first to get a FP. They will also have a rope on the other side that heads away from Africa. You can wait there to head over to ExpEv.

My advice would be to grab a FP for Safari and then head to Asia for ExpEv and ride that and Kali, then grab a FP for either one of those rides, and head back to ride Safari.

Have a great breakfast and a great day at AK!

Thanks so much for the replies! I love to have a plan..now I just need to figure out what my plan will be but now i have some great ideas!!

Our plan is for me to run over and grab EE FPs and then ride the safari. My thinking is this - the safari is a long ride so even with a minimal wait that part of the morning will take at least 30-40min. So we won't be getting back over towards EE until 10ish, by which time there will be at least a bit of a wait and FP return times will be much later. But I think either way would work, particularly if you're planning on spending most/all of the day at AK and could kill a couple hours on the Asia trails while waiting for your Everest return time.

We have 8:15 reservations on Dec. 2. If I sent DH to get FPs for EE, how long will it take for him to get back to us to ride safari stand-by? He has long legs...

This is exactly what I would do!!
