Hi! We're going to be at VB the week of July 16th...Can anyone tell me how I go about signing up my family for the turtle walk? I think we'd all really love this. TIA! Diser's (especially DVC Diser's) are the best! :thumbsup2

I think you sign up at the rental place, Ebb and Flo's, but ask at the front desk when you check in.

We've been there in May and in August, and there are different types of walks. Some are family beach walks, free, and some are for a fee, Turtle Troop for kids. There are also walks in the area led by conservationists/naturalists who are licensed and can take just a limited amount of people.

Sometimes there were informative talks by Diseny naturalists from Animal Kingdom held in the evenings. I learned lots about sea turtles during our VB trips.

Bobbi :thumbsup2

Bobbi, we're going to Vero in early August. My understanding from reading up on turtle walks in the area is that the nightime sea turtle egg laying/hatching season runs from June through July (the evening walks all seem to end by late July). Does Disney (or anyone else around Vero) actually offer nightime turtle walks in August?

I hope we get to join you in the turtle walk at VB, MrsNick! We'll be at OKW July 15-20 and then at Vero 20-23. See ya there! :hippie:

Hi! We'll be there until the 23rd. Hope to see you there :sunny: I'm thinking of getting one of the Alien Green Mickeys that everyone keeps talking about :teeth: If I do, then we'll be easy to spot.

I did the turtle walk with the kids last summer (actually Turtle Troop). It was awesome. They inventory turtle nests and on our day they found a baby turtle that just didn't have enough energy to get out of the nest. Kids got to touch it and then they let him go in the surf... quite a sight!

We signed up for the 'night' turtle walk, but unfortunately no turtles were spotted coming ashore that night in our area. We did enjoy an interesting evening with a park ranger and a lecture on sea turtles. Guests were drawn by lottery....you signed up and they drew families to reach a maximum of 20 people. There are a small number of organizations that are permitted to do turtle walks, with Disney being one of them.
