Has anyone here used Turo car rentals (kind of like airbnb but for cars) during DVC stays? Just wanted to know what your experience was like with the service and if they support one-way rentals (e.g. having a car delivered to MCO and then picked up at the resort you're staying at). I can see us using it for getting from MCO, buying groceries, and then heading to the resort, and then not really needing it for the rest of the trip. Just looking at other options with magical express going away.

I know the transportation forum might seem like the better place for this question, but just want to throw this out there because it seems ideal for short rentals and those wanting to rent cars for stays at SSR or OKW.

I'm super curious as well. Rental car prices are INSANE right now! I booked a semi-reasonable price for an SUV, but have been trying to switch over to a van and/or add more days. The other day the Alamo website listed $2,2## for a standard SUV. I think that was for 8 days. I would rather cancel our flights and drive my own car than pay those prices, but I ran across Turo today. I'm curious if anyone has used them.

I'll caution to look at your own car insurance. In many cases, the rental car coverage won't include Turo, and you'll need to get Turo's add-on coverage.

To second this, if you have damage waiver on your credit card, many times that won’t cover it either. Chase Sapphire, for instance, doesn’t. The cost of insurance through Turo was enough that booking through Costco Travel made more sense for my trip.

One big problem I've seen with Turo is picking up the car. I've seen very few that will deliver to MCO. It seems to me that that means you have to get an Uber from the airport to some location where the car is, and the opposite when returning. The cost of the Uber plus hours spent in transit cuts down on the bargain as far as I can see.

We used them in California. Had a minor issue with the car and the host wasn't very helpful. Ended up working out but caused a bit of stress one evening that I doubt I would have had with a rental. On the other hand, it was about 1/2 the money so I can't complain too much. Be sure to factor in the cleaning fee (if the host offers it) along with insurance because those are a couple of costs you might not have with rental cars.

Supporting a 1 way rental would vary by host but I would expect you'll pay through the nose for them to pick it up. I wouldn't even bother with Turo unless you're planning to pick up and return the car to the same location.
