Here’s the tale of how my attempt to outsmart the waitlist system backfired (though it has a happy ending).
Wanted a reservation for a weekend at the Boardwalk (one of my home resorts). Was only able to get Friday night with a garden view and Saturday night with a resort view. So clever me thought - I’ll create a waitlist for the Saturday garden night, and one for the Friday resort night, and if one comes through I’ll set it to replace the night with the other view that I don’t need anymore, then clean everything up afterwards.
So of course, after weeks of nothing, both waitlists filled at the same time, booking both rooms and canceling both original reservations. So I’m left with the opposite of what I had - now I have a Friday resort view night and a Saturday garden view night.
Fortunately I was able to quickly modify the resort view to Friday and Saturday nights, then cancel the Saturday garden view night, so it all worked out.
But I’m done trying to game the waitlist system (at least that way).
