turning negatives into digital?

Hi - I'm not sure if this is the right place or not. I was trying to figure out if there is a way to take a negative and transfer it to a cd?

I love the photobooks from Shutterfly. (I know it's not really scrapbooking) I have a ton of negatives from older trips that I would love to make into a photobook. Shutterfly doesn't offer this service & I was wondering if anyone knows if you can do it?

You can either buy a scanner with the ability to scan negative strips, or there are services out there where you can e-mail negatives & slides and get them put on disks. I know there were at least a couple of places online that could do that, but I can't remember them. (Read it in an old Digital Scrapbooking magazine issue.) Probably a google search for something like "photo negatives transfer" would bring them up.
