Hey fellow Dizers,
I have been reading everyones trip reports and have to say that I have fully enjoyed them. I have actually enjoyed them so much that I felt the need to write my own report on my most recent trip, which took place about two weeks ago. I have been many times and can say that I truly say that I am a Disney Freak. It has gotten to the point where I dont even need a map when walking around the parks. Its bad and I blame it all on my grandmother, she herself is the one that first got me hooked on the Disney Magic.
So my grandmother announced to me that she was going to be at Disney for Easter and that she wanted to take me along. I gladly accepted the invitation and began to plan. Now see as much as I love my grandmother spending two weekends with her was not at the top of my to do list. She loves the magic that is associated with Disney but being in her sixties she is not as fast nor has as much as energy as she use to. Also her favorite rides are one like Its a Small World and Peter Pan. I love those rides as well but my dream was to ride Everest. I had been to the parks in March and had chickened out so this time I was determined to conquer that thing. Although I knew my grandmother would be less than enthusiastic about my dream. That is what I got the brilliant idea of inviting my roommate, who had only been to Disney once in her life, poor soul. I told that she had to come so I could show her what the magic was all about and hopefully, turn her into a Disney fan as well. So it was decided that I would spend the first weekend alone with my grandmother and she would come the second.
Now I need to say that I am avid planner. Like I use to read all the books way before the trip and plan where we wanted to eat and where we wanted to go long before we ever made it to the airport. And this trip was no different. I told my grandmother exactly what I wanted to do with her, which was two behind the scenes tour, one was the Segway and the other was Keys to the Kingdom (I highly recommend these tours). However, this trip report is more about the weekend that I spent with my roommate who will forever more be referred to as DR.
Now my DR knows that I am a Disney Freak and many times believes that I am off my rocker. I relive all my favorite memories and all the favorite rides and places to eat. She just listens nicely and then changes the subject. I could see the look in her eye as I talked about our upcoming trip. It was the look that says Oh I hope you arent like this the entire time or I might go crazy kind of look. She just doesnt understand what the hype is all about. Now I need to mention that she is from Bermuda and her way of life is very different from mine. She thinks that I talk too fast, walk too fast, and just need slow down and enjoy life. She is a pure island girl at heart. I told her that was a mentality that she would have to get over for our vacation. Sure, she could enjoy the sights but we only had three days and I wanted to make this nonbeliever in the magic a believer.
So before we left I planned out our days from start to finish. I looked up park times, EMH at what parks, and decided where we wanted to eat. There were a few changes made but overall I was happy with the plan. She listens as I rambled on for days telling me that yeah she was excited but there were more pressing matters at the moment than Disney. I was like what is more pressing than Disney? I saw that my job would be cut out. Finally, the morning of our departure arrived. We were packed ready to go and were off or so I thought!!!
Well Im no sure if anyone will read it or even enjoy this report but I felt that I needed to join in the TR with my own and I must say that I am thoroughly enjoying reliving the memories. Up next Unexpected Travel Troubles and Unbearable Heat.
