Turning 3 dinning question

My middle son will be turning 3 two days before the end of our trip. I know that getting into the parks he is considered 2 since that's what he was when we arrived and he isn't on our DDP.

My question is what to do about TS on/after his birthday. If they ask how old he is do I just say he's 3 but was 2 when our trip started? We were planning on having him share our meals (he's not a big eater anyhow). Are they going to give us a hard time if we do a buffet?

Sidenote: We were going to celebrate his birthday at Boatwrights but have never eaten there before, is that a good place for a birthday dinner?

I would call the dining line and ask them their policy.

Boatwrights would not be my choice of a bday dinner. Why did you choose there? On a side note, you can order a cake with your child's name on it to be served at dinner! We did this for my DD when she turned 2!

Since he turns 3 while at Disney, they consider him 2 for the whole trip. You should not have to pay for his meals, unless you order him something at the non-buffet/family style restaurants.

Don't forget to get him a birthday button.

I think your son would like a character meal or even 'Ohana where the kids can get up and dance/play musical intruments. HDDR would even be more enjoyable than a regular restaurant.

This. :thumbsup2 He is considered 2 for the entire trip. We celebrated my son's 3rd birthday at Tusker House in AK. It was really cute.

Thats a great ?....My DD will be turning 10 when we are there and I was worried about that since you are considered an adult at 10

Nope, you get one more year of her being a child.

If you are going for Free Dining, however it might be better to upgrade her. It would be the difference of the park passes and if you upgraded from QSDP-DDP, or DDP-DxDP.

Thanks for the replies, I've been stressing about it.

We just picked Boatwrights because we had been told that it was a nice resturant and it fit into our touring plans for that day. But now that I think about it, I probably will change to something else. He would LOOOOve to go to TRex but my husband has the "if we paid for the dinning plan we're only eating places we can use it" mentality.

Thanks!

Did they do anything special for your son on his 3rd Birthday? When we reserved at Tusker House they asked if we were celebrating anything and I did say my 3 yr olds birthday since its within a week of the trip and its his present from us... so will he get anything cool that way?

Sometimes they did for my DD sometimes nothing. She did get a cupcake with a candle in it and confetti on the table at Crystal Palace. The only way to ensure a celebration is to order a cake! I think I paid like 22 bucks for a smaller one.

Our server came and brought a cupcake and card out for my niece and sang "Happy Birthday". I told him he must have the wrong table, as my niece's birthday was in May (it was October). He said it's okay. The lady at the table near me shortly afterwards received a Birthday Cupcake.

My other niece received signed cards and special cake at CP (lactose intollerant).

He got a card signed by all the characters then they had him (and everyone else celebrating) get up and dance. It was really cute. They might have given him a cupcake with a candle but I don't remember.

Wanted to add that the Boardwalk Bakery has an awesome Mickey face cake. It is counted as a snack credit (or was when we were there). We got that and brought that to another meal. He loved it! "Hot dog" as he calls him is his favorite.
