I understand that tipping is normal for housekeeping on the avg of $1/person/day.....

But what about the turn-down service people? Do I need to, or is it expected to leave them a tip for "tucking you in" so to speak?

For mousekeeping, I normally tip $1 "per person" in the room. For turn down service, I go with a $1 "per bed" tip.

I found that doing all the tips before our trip was a great idea. I had envelopes marked for each day and each service. One for mousekeeping and one for turn down. I put the money inside and stuck them in my luggage. When we got to the hotel, I put them into the in-room safe and each day pulled out what I needed. It was so nice not having to scrounge around for $1's as we were running off to the parks.

Great Idea Tammy!!

I'll stop at the bank today and get some singles! I'll print out the envelopes tonight...ok my DW will do it, I always seem to screw up the printer when I try to do anything other than hit the print button!

I tip $2 per night for mousekeeping turndown service regardless. But again there's never more than three of us in the room.

Thanks for this thread and it's answers! I am staying Concierge Level for the 1st time next month and I was wondering about this. Also, does anyone know if you only tip "Mousekeeping" and the turn down service person, (And I know to tip the bell services) or ar there others you should tip from Concierge?

When we stayed at GF concierge, the mousekeeping, turndown and bell staff were the only one's that we tipped on the concierge floor. We had a package delivered to the room and when I tried to tip that staff person, she informed me that they were not allowed to accept gratuities. Also, the staff members in the lounge would not accept anything. Everyone we ran across was just wonderful and we couldn't thank them enough for all the nice things they did for us. I also saw a nice Disney moment when we there. One morning, a guest came out of her room and presented a rose to one of the gentleman who was working in the concierge lounge. I thought it was a priceless gesture and he had a big smile on his face for the rest of the day.

I hope your upcoming stay is magical.

Yeah, we boo-booed. Never even thought about turndown (although my ds turned them away several nites). One nite I left the housekeeping tip out so I was ready for the next day and it was gone when we came back. DUH!!!! Next time I will know better.

Thanks Tammi and everyone for your informative replies and ensuring that I don't commit any major or minor embarrassing mistakes. I am going to the bank tomorrow and getting 100 $1 bills, which I will then stuff in the appropriate mousekeeping envelopes.

Other than mousekeeping, turn-down, and bellman services (& the occasional car retrieval) can you think of anything/anyone else that I should be aware of for gratuities or anything else that I may not be aware of??!!
