Okay..so yesterday I pulled apart the Christmas turkey, threw out the skin, and boiled the bones and got the rest of the meat off the bones. I strained the broth, went through the meat to make sure all the bones were out, and put the meat back into the broth. I want to make turkey noodle soup.
When I took the container out of the frig. this morning...I thought I'd be able to just take off the "fat" from the top..(Like I can on beef soup, or such)...well..it's all congealed...almost like a jello. Did I do something wrong? When I tasted it yesterday before I stored it...it tasted pretty good.
So..can anyone help me? Is it okay? I've never made turkey soup before..any help would really be appreciated..especially since it's cold and dreary...a good day for soup....Or is it "NO SOUP FOR YOU!!":rotfl:
thanks..barb

No soup for Barb!!:lmao:

My broth does the same thing, congeals. When you add some carrots and celery, it will be beautiful once again!:goodvibes

Oops, I forgot to say that heat needs to be added too! But I think you got it!

I would make "turkey noodles". You can just kind of skim the fat off or leave it on. Add enough broth or water to cook your noodles in and bring to a boil. Stir in any kind if noodles or pasta you have and cook till done. Salt & pepper to taste.

it is fine. Every gumbo or soup with bones does that. Just heat it up and finish your soup.

Thanks for giving me the idea of what to do with my leftover turkey bones. We fried 2 turkeys, I wonder if I can boil them????

The gelatin comes from the bones of the turkey, and it means you have a really good broth. It will liquefy again when you heat it back up. Add carrots, celery, shredded turkey meat & egg noodles, plus salt, pepper & parsley to taste, and you should have some really yummy soup. =)

thank you everyone...wish I could share it all with you!! barb

It is sooooooo good. And yes as everyone says, this is normal. I made mine Sunday night and we finished it yesterday for lunch. I like it more than I do chicken noodle. It is good weather for it too. Enjoy.

:sad1: I just finished off our turkey soup today for lunch. Wish there was more!! Enjoy yours, OP!
