I work with someone who used to know someone who was a CM. The CM told my co-worker that the turkey legs are actually emu legs. Has anyone else heard this?
Can somebody explain the turkey leg thing to me? When DBf and I were at disney this year, we kept noticing the turkey leg stands and thought it was kinda weird, but I've read a lot of posts of people loving it, so maybe someone can explain it! haha It seems to me to be such a random snack!!
They can make a quick and tasty lunch. Truthfully, I didnt think I'd like them, either. But I DO! I don't get them every trip, it dpends on if we want a light "snack" lunch or a table service meal (table service usually wins ).
If you like smoked meats, I find the WDW Turkey Legs to be better than average.
While they are definately large for a turkey leg, they are turkey and not emu.
Turkey legs are pretty common snacks at fairs and theme parks... Lots of people say they are yummy, but I'm not a big dark meat fan so I haven't tried one yet =)
I always crack up to see how far urban legends travel (and how long.) They are definitely Turkey. The Emu legend was started long ago and many still swear it to be truth.
They are pretty good, and the smoking definitely gives them a unique taste as far as turkey goes.
One of the things I can't wait to enjoy is the turkey legs and have enjoyed them since the mid 80's. Still have a little over 2 months before we get there.
Adult emu weigh "125 to 140 pounds". So I would think an emu thigh should weigh 15-20 pounds dressed and cooked, maybe more. (These birds are all leg!) You'd have to rent a stroller to carry it around with you.
