Well I just went food shopping and saw frozen turkeys on sale for .59 a lb at our local Market Basket. Wasn't planning on buying one, but they were about $1.19 a lb recently so this seemed like a good deal.

We aren't hosting Thanksgiving this year, but love the leftovers so I will cook it on Wed. with some fixins and enjoy the leftovers Thanksgiving weekend.

Any deals in your neck of the woods?:)

Bottom Dollar has turkeys for 37 cents per pound this week that ends today.
If you have 400 points or more at Giant (Pennsylvania), you can get a free turkey.

Yeah, I only need to spend about $275 more till I can get my free turkey from Giant. That should be fairly easy to do over the next couple weeks.

.37 a lb is great! Haven'tseen prices that low in a couple years here in Mass.;)

Only thing I've seen so far is 59 cents/lb at Kroger for the store brand turkeys with additional $10 purchase. It was in the Halloween ad with a note that it would be the price through Thanksgiving. There is a $3 off Butterball with additional purchases coupon out as well.

those are great prices. The only price I have seen are from the meat market that had them for $1.59 for a fresh one. Not in my price range!

I am really considering doing a turkey breast, or if we deep fry just a 16lb whole turkey and roast the breast. Everyone is a white meat person or ham eater. I do the giblets or dark meat up for the cats though.

Just heard Target had breast last week for .99 a pound. I need to keep my eyes peeled now for a good price.

I haven't seen any turkey prices yet, but we also don't subscribe to the newspaper so I'm probably just out of the loop! :upsidedow

This will probably be the 2nd year we don't have a turkey for Thanksgiving due to the prices. On a per pound basis for a frozen turkey, it's a great price, but it's too difficult to work the budget to pay that much for a turkey especially with having to have a "qualifying additional purchase". Last year the required additional purchases weren't $10, they were around $40+ that I remember. We spend about $50/week for groceries (including all household items such as toilet paper, laundry detergent, toothpaste, etc).

I will probably just cook a whole chicken again. It's just my husband and myself unless we are invited over to dinner with the family...some years we are, and some years we aren't. :)

$1.19lb is the regular price for a frozen turkey at my store, but soon they'll start the X cents a pound with $25 worth of groceries. Years ago they'd be 29 cents a lb, I think they're going to be .49 a pound this year and the price of the turkey counts towards that $25 total. People go ape over it and buy one every time they're in and stick them in freezer. It gets crazy and now they only have that deal for a two week period where it used to be a month long price.

They had the same offer last week and I've already picked up my bird. It's not hard to spend $100 in a single transaction anymore but you have to reach that mark AFTER coupons in order to get the free turkey.

I did a huge coupon shopping trip and got nearly $300 worth of food (including my 22+ lb bird) for $125!

Now, I'm thinking of doing another big shopping trip just so I'll have one to donate. Acme used to allow you to donate your "free turkey" coupon to charities. I wonder if they are doing anything like that this year? I don't have room in my freezer for another turkey.

Shaw's had Turkeys for $.49/lb this week. Yesterday, we had a practice Thanksgiving Dinner in my house!

BJ's has a free turkey deal until Nov 13th. I believe you have to buy some preselected items from a list.
