Turkey Day Gang 2009

Welcome lauras_line family!

Congrats Charlie on your wedding!!

Less than a month to go I can hardly stand it!!

Our family arrives in MCO 4 weeks from today! I'm so excited!!:tigger::goofy::mickeyjum

I can't believe it's getting so close! Looking so forward to a week of sleeping in, (except on port days) relaxing, Palo, Mickey waffles, the shows, the characters, EVERYTHING! (I'm even excited about getting a hot dog at Nathan's in the food court at MCO. We don't have Nathan's in Dallas.:rotfl2:)

Did I say I'm excited?:rotfl:

Thanks for the warm welcome!! This is our 1st Eastern Cruise. Any thoughts on excursions?? I am overwhelmed with the choices. HELP!! We don't want to snorkel and had thought about doing a short island tour but have read that some are VERY lame...hate to waste the time if it is not good. I would also like to out my family info (especially my son) on your list. We went last year and had sooo much fun but would have been better if my son had met a buddy there.
Thanks again!!!

I will assume there is a typo in Laura's last post and that she wants to "put" her family on the FE list, rather than "out" them, which has a substantially different meaning. That said, Laura, if you want to join the FE list, you are welcome to do so.

As to excursions, the best one in our opinion by far, though it may be sold out and i think has a minimum age of 16, is the 12 metre regatta race with retired world cup yachts, such as stars and stripes, in St. Maarten.

As for St. Thomas, I think the most popular excursions involve snorkeling and beaches, or going over to St. Johns if you prefer nature type events. The one I would strongly recommend avoiding is the one w/the sky ride and some bird show on top of the hill. I found it to be an overpriced waste of time last visit, though my wife and son were not so harsh in their opinion.

I believe this time we will end up at Coral World, albeit probably by taxi on our own, though I have heard pros and cons on that one. I think Lisa wants to sea the sea lions paint.

Anyway, feel free to ask questions.

Chuck:cool1:

Oh and Karen, Lisa's comment about a "few" Eeyores of the stuffed variety is a bit of an understatement....there are quite a few of them including a life-sized 42" one....and that does not include the clothing and pajamas with Eeyore.

Chuck:cool1:

Sherris and Dustermom2 are we meeting up tomorrow? I sent a PM. I hope so, we are looking forward to it.

I know we talked about using the Promenade Lounge for Bunco. However, when I checked a recent Navigator, they have an activity scheduled in there starting at 3:30.

So, I think the best bet would be to move Bunco to the tables outside of Topsiders, at the far end of the ship. (Not near the pools). I think I have enough dice for 7 tables. We'll have to adapt the game a little bit, but it should give newbies a good idea of how to play it. :thumbsup2

Laura:

I will make this change for the mini navigator.... Are we still thinking 3:30 ?

Those heading to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party... on Friday befere we leave.

Does anyone want to throw out a meet time... Maybe 9:00 p.m. in front of the castle? Just to say hi?

Let me know....

Wendy

I needed that laugh today! Thanks!

Let's plan on an hour, from 3-4. At 4, we can meet for a few minutes for the Cub/Boy/Girl Scouts patch and/or S.W.A.P.S. trading.

Thanks for organizing the mini navigator! :thumbsup2

We just got back from dinner at the Beach Club so we are stuffed.

Tommorrow we have a daisy scout trip so that should work off some calories.

Charlie congrats on the wedding!!!

Michelle --

I just told Joey where you had dinner. He's jealous - one of his favorite restaurants at the World.

Charlie-- congrats on the wedding! Looking forward to hearing about it.

Hi Turkey Gang,

Newbie here...my husband and 13 year old son are going to be on the Magic this coming Thanksgiving. Anyone else going with kids that age?

Welcome Lauras line! I have a just turned 14 yr old son who acts (and looks) like he's 12 so, he'll fit right on in. This is a great bunch of people here. Many of them have cruised together before and there are many of us that are new. This is our first-ever cruise.

Wendy - we'll be at MVMCP on Friday night. Do we have a list of who is going? If not, if anyone wants to PM me -- I'll be glad to keep it.

4 more weeks!!!!!!

We are getting so excited.

I booked our St. Thomas excursion. Since it's our first time and I have no idea if/when we'll ever go back, we booked an island tour through Sunny Liston. Read some good reviews. We're with Bernard's tour for St. Maarten. I figure with both tours, we get a little shopping, some sight seeing, and some beach. The boys will be thrilled to be doing the shopping, I'm sure :lmao:

We will be with ya Sherri on Bernards - we did Burlie's tour for the other island....

we are three weeks from today departure - thank goodness -

Maryland Meet -

Susan - we're on for tomorrow. I told DH we had chosen Fuddruckers. We can be there before 12 most likely. My cousin is coming over to my fathers' to pick up his couch since he doesn't need it at his assisted living place. We're meeting her at 10

If you guys would rather go to the mall - we're cool with that too. :cool1:

Of course, since we'll be in Columbia, we'll have to go see our new baby (and his mother and sister) as well.

Got my luggage tickets today in the mail... best feeling ever! You know that means the cruise is coming up soon!

We decided to do Bernards tour as well after hearing so many positive things about it.

I think we are going to take good advice on the other island to just hop a cab to the beach.

This school year has been so trying already and I CAN NOT WAIT for a vacation!

:woohoo:

Fuddruckers @ 12pm is fine! We'll be donning Mickey gear for those that have it! Yeah!:yay:

We are also in... although maybe not DH. He's not to sure about this whole Dis thing and if he stays home I can leave the baby with him!

By the way, DD10 is going to post on the kids board. Alert the media!!! :rotfl:

I will tell you that Paradis point is just a ski lift up to the top of a "mountain" where there is shopping and a parrot show. Eastern is not my fav for excursions. We just do the $5.00 all day water taxi hang at Great Bay and Shop on St Marten.

.

Well he may be even more jealous. They just changed up the menu this week. Now featuring all you can eat crab legs for no additional charge and a few more desserts :) Gotta love the Oreo Bon-bons
