Welcome back Wendy!

Welcome to our group Danielle! This is our first cruise ever and we're so excited. Everyone here has been extremely helpful.

Hi everyone else. Just got back from spending the week in Annapolis again. Summer has finally hit up here and it is hot and humid and the way that July weather is supposed to be. I'm tired from meetings and socializing all week and it's good to catch up here as my pick-me-up. I go back to Annapolis again on Tuesday.

Meanwhile-- the reason for cruise is to celebrate DS13's Bar Mitzvah. His Bar Mitzvah is 3 weeks tomorrow. :scared1: Hard to believe it is so close now. I felt like such a bad Mom last week because he didn't want to practice for a couple of days. I reminded him "no Bar Mitzvah -- no cruise" and he went back to practicing again.

I think I finally found the FE blog and posted our information.

This is going to be a great year for the FE... The more families the better. Karen, Chuck, Lisa and the LK4 can tell everyone how great it was on the 2007 Turkey Cruise.

Our DD was not the only one who got goodies. My husband was thrilled to find a Pittsburg Pirate pin in our FE one evening ! Wonder who that could have been from.

The more people participating the better !

I will volunteer to do a mini navigator if any would like me too, it will help find all those cabins. It is also great exercise to walk off all those ice cream cones !!!!!!

wowo - we are getting closer to our double #'s -- I just checked out the new DCL site and I like it -- so if I do all my paperwork online - then I do not need to bring ANYTHIGN with me? but my passports?

My concern is that I am going to be away for the week before my cruise - so I am not sure where DU will send my paperwork to - or do I ever NEED that paperwork from them...

Hey Lisa,

DU should send you your final paperwork well before a week before your cruise. I know we got our stuff from our TA about a month before the cruise last time!

As far as what you need to bring...well, I'm old fashioned in some ways (or perhaps paranoid!). I print out everything that I submit on line for the cruise and bring it with me 'cause there's no way I'm missing that boat :thumbsup2! Trust me, if they said I needed something I didn't have...let's just say that it wouldn't be pretty....:scared1:

Karen

Lisa - I'd print everything out and bring it with you. Last cruise, I thought I was being so prepared by filling out everything online, but I didn't think I needed to print it out. Needless to say, I had to fill out some of the forms again at the terminal. :sad2:

Wendy - if you could do a mini-navigator with the FE cabins listed, that would be perfect! :thumbsup2

ok so this is the reply from DU:

Disney states they will mail the package 10-14 days prior to sailing. It’s often received before that but never less than 10 days.

we sail on 11/21 right - so 14 days prior would be 11/7 ---we depart NH on the 13th --- so maybe I shouldn't worry - huh????

I'm sure you'll have it in plenty of time! I can't remember what's all in the final paperwork, but I think most of it is the stuff that's online.

Wendy-a mini navigator would be great!! Mason loves delivering the fe gifts--it's like a scavenger hunt for him!! He is very happy to hear that your daughter will be in the cruise again!!

Lisa-The one thing you may need from your package--the dcl luggage tags!!

Lisa

Hey all - thanks for the great replies and support -

Yes I only need the luggage tags - so that is not a HUGE issue I think right????? heheheh

Hey everyone,

I forgot to say that since we are definitely taking the cruise (yippee!), I'll volunteer to do shirts again! (Though I will say that I am definitely not the design queen so I'd be open to help with design!)

Oh yeah...and who has the link for the bracelets? DS may want one.

Karen

One last thing...DS (aka The Duck Stops Here...aka Andrew) has offered to make luggage tags for anyone wanting a special Disney luggage tag (beyond the DCL ones). We have them on most of our luggage and I will say that they do stand out in a crowd. Not very many people have Mickey Head luggage tags!

So, if you want one (or 10 or 12 or ???) drop us an email at amgattcs@gmail.com or msklcassidy@hotmail.com.

Thanks,

Karen (oops...and Andrew who is sitting on my left shoulder attempting to dictate to me).

Welcome Danielle! Welcome (back) Wendy!

So what is a mini navigator? We've cruised DCL before, but this will be our first time participating in FE. I read on another thread that on the first day each family had to "check in" with the FE organizer so they could confirm the list of cabins in case anyone upgraded. The organizer delivered the updated info to everyone's FE that first night. Is that what you mean? If so, then YES! :rotfl: If not, please enlighten me. :goodvibes

Karen (and others) -- here's my quick tip on adding a link into your post. :teacher: First, copy the web address of whatever post/site you want in your post. Then, type your post and highlight one or more words in your post (such as cruise bracelets) that you want others to click on. Just above the area where you type your message there are a variety of buttons (fonts, etc). Click on the Earth button, which will open a small window. Paste the url that you copied earlier. Click OK and viola! I just hope I explained it well!

So if you click the link above, look on the left side for custom silicone wristbands (toward the bottom). I *still* haven't ordered any.

Karen, thanks for organizing t-shirts!

We're making our final payment this week! Nothing like a final payment to make it REAL! :woohoo:

Have a great week, everyone!

Hiya folks,
I'm sorry I've been lax in participating. It's been one crazy hetic summer for me.

Karen, I've updated your Son's age. They grow up so fast don't they? If you are still looking for the bracelet there is also a link on the blog. If someone has found something better send me a comment and I'll make an adjustment.

I've added Tinkerbellmom and DB4Huskers to the blog as well. Welcome aboard! It looks like a great trip!

Is anyone interested in adding Facebook or Twitter names to the blog so we can keep in touch on the way to and from the ship? I'm not planning on using cell service on board but if you want to add it in a comment.

My day job keeps getting busier so I can't spend as much time here as I'd like. Still, I'm employed so I won't complain too much. Take care.

The Mini Navigator is a (Disboard) version of the Navigator you get onboard. We will have other meets for the rest of the week. On the 2007 we had a GREAT photo taken on formal night. ( I will try to post ) We also get together for football in diversions or a GREAT Volleyball game on Castaway. ( Chuck likes to play volleyball so we can put him in charge of that). We also sometimes have other meets throughout the week. On our most recent cruise we met before the Golden Mickey so the kids could sit together.

We also list cabins #'s with permisson only and other fun stuff. Basically anything that we want to include.

Most important is the first meet usually at the sail away party!! It is great to see that sea of lime green shirts !!

I haven't officially booked it yet, but I'm very close to joining you for the Turkey Day cruise. Some of you may have read my ramblings on the main page about my post cruise depression affecting my judgement, but if not, here's a little background.

I did my first Disney cruise JUN 13-20 and have been depressed ever since. This was my 7th cruise total, but 1st on DCL. I know I've been depressed before, but this is definitely different. Not only was this a great vacation, it was a great feeling to be a kid again (at 41!)

The cruise in June was me, my 2 boys 7 & 5, my 20 year old niece and friend and her family. This time, I'm taking my husband and boys. I work for an airline, so they posted some great rates for the Turkay cruise and I couldn't help but think of the pluses that this cruise would bring (to try to justify it!) like Christmas decorations, snow blower on Castaway Cay, Lobster on Thanksgiving, etc.

My last cruise we booked a verandah but I'm thinking of going as cheap as possible. I called today to see how much longer I had to decide and my girl said they still had a lot of availability. She said they had some inside cabins still available on deck 7, so that's what I'm leaning towards.

Anyway, y'all have way too many pages to read to ever catch up, but I just wanted to type a quick note to tell someone how excited I am to be possibly booking in a few days. We're not going to tell the boys where we are going until they spot the boat as we drive over the bridge. I can't wait!!

I will let you know if/when I officialy book. If it's possible, I would like to participate in the FE program if it's not too complicated for a first timer! I saw the many FE's on board in June and would love to participate for my 2 boys.

Thanks and I hope to get to know some of you better!

Well now that many of the "gang" is now official, I make one last attempt at a dinner link...although the person responsible for handling thelinks is no longer there, as much of that level was unfortunately let go - yes even Disney has been affected by the economy - I understand a link to still be possible if there is interest...so Karen, Wendy, Rob/Priscilla, Lampy, and all the others, please let me know either here, or preferably by PM or at icelaw21@aol.com if there is interest for second seating link and I will set it up if there is sufficient interest. Please note that there no longer are 3 times to choose from...instead all 2nd seatings are now at 8:15.

And yes, I will be spending most of CC day at the volleyball courts, in the hardcore game of course (but there are 2 courts).
