Turkey Day Gang 2009

Wow, they personalize each one individually??? That's great!

Hi everyone! I logged on and posted onto this site wa-a-ay back last spring when we booked this cruise, but unfortunately, never posted again (but lurked!).

Well, I"m going to try it again. I'm Tracy, dh Ian, dd's almost nine and 6. This is our second cruise, the first being the Wonder last April. As of yet, we haven't told our girls about this one (it's killing me, though!!). We're hoping to sent them on a scavenger hunt in the fall to "discover" our little secret!

My friend was on this cruise this past T-giving with her family. She told me what fun it was to do these FE. Is it too late to join? I think my girls would have a blast participating!

Welcome back to the thread!! It's definitely not too late to join the FE exchange!! Your girls will love it!! :thumbsup2

Hi guys! I added Pam/Momoftwins to the blog today.

Trace, (and anyone else) follow the link in my signature and add your info to the comments section. If you post as anynomous be sure to remind me who you are. Your Dis sig won't automatically show up over there.

We are nearly up to 25 rooms and have tons of kids. DH is having a great time getting to know Laura's daughter. (Thank you!:yay:)

Haven't been around much because things are getting hectic for me getting ready for "graduation" season.

I'll try to add a link to the bracelet maker tonight.

It's so exciting to see old friends getting together for this cruise. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.

More blog updates

I've hopefully finally gotten Paula's family right. Sorry, sometimes all those DD's and DS's get a little swimmy for me.

I added a link to Woodworknick's ebay homepage for the bracelets that Izma purchased, and warned him that we may be descending on him. I didn't link to the specific auction page because I'm afraid it will change when the items relists later.

I've noticed that only two families have posted pre-cruise plans. Does anyone else want to add something?

I just know there's one more thing but I can't think of it. Whatever is will have to keep, it's bedtime. :surfweb:

I think that's it. TTYL

Welcome back, Trace!

I'm glad to hear we have such a great turnout for the FE's! :thumbsup2

Izma - do you want to have the honor of picking the color for the bracelets so we can all match and easily identify each other?

My DD and MommyMinnie's DD have been having a great time emailing and getting to know each other. It will be nice of them to already "know" each other by the time we sail.

We are heading to DC for the weekend. My DS's marching band will be marching in the Cherry Blossom Festival Parade. :woohoo:

Okay, I THINK I signed us up for FEs. I also think I called my hubby a DD! Oops...I was thinking of "Darling Dad".

LK 4 Let me know how DC is. We're heading there in 10 days for the girls' April Break. We're hoping the blossoms will still be out!

See, All those D's go swimming sometimes. I always want to make Daughters DS's IDK why. The worst is Neices and Nephews abbreviated as DN and DN.

Anyhow I made Ian a DH and added your family :surfweb:. Guess I'd better get back to work or there'll be no vacation for me.

mommyminnie, thanks again for doing the blog. It must be a lot of work. I am super excited that there are so many of us participating in the fish extender exchange.

Trace - Welcome! We are from the Hudson Valley. Are you from anywhere close? We have a DD who will be 9 on the cruise as well.

Does anyone know if there is a residence inn by marriot anywhere near the port. My DD won a free 2 night stay last year at one anywhere, so we we were hoping to use them up before I lose them.

Wow we had a windy night here. I hope the paraders don't blow away in DC today. My parents are friends with the band director here and still chaperone the local band even though I graduated 20+ years ago, so they are at the parade today too. :cheer2: I'm so glad they are active and doing so many things still. Laura- I told them to look for the Cranberry, PA band while they are there. They are both natives from Erie,PA and we have driven through there many, many times.

Ds just looked over my shoulder and wants to check out some smilies :rockband: :boat: :charac2:

Patsy, I'm so sorry, my group still needs corrections on the fe list. Its DD5 and DS8. Your page is really fabulous and I'm having a great time checking out all the links you set up with it.

For the bracelets -Have we decided on a color? It looks like only blue or cyan come in both adult and youth. Reflex and Navy don't come in youth. I remember 3 years ago, on our 1st cruise, but my sister's second, they got red bracelets that said castaway club in black. I was quite jealous. Does anyone know if they still give away the bracelets to castaway club members?

About the shirts - I was thinking, (I know very dangerous), since the bracelets can be ordered individually. Has anyone else done the t-shirt iron on transfers besides Sherri? (I've seen the great pictures from her fall trip report!) Its not really hard once you have the logo. I made a bunch of survivor type buffs for my girl scout troop about 4 years ago- I got iron on transfer paper from the local craft store and it came with a software that flipped the picture mirror image (b/c if you print it straight it will reverse any writing), on your computer so you could print it on your printer and iron it on so you could read it. Karen - would that be easier for you if we tried to do that ourselves once we have a logo? Of course I don't know how we would all match the right shade of blue shirts though. I guess it wouldn't work. But it could work for someone that wanted a specific style of shirt if they didn't mind not exactly matching with color.

As far as pre trip, we arrive the morning of the cruise. I really hope I don't end up regretting that decision, but it was cheaper and we're supposed to arrive in florida at 8:30am. If we're on time. We still have about an hour and 15 minutes to get to the port. Post trip we're hoping to go to Discovery Cove on Saturday when we get off the cruise. We head back to reality Sunday.

I guess I've delayed enough. I better get to my cleaning.

There is a very nice residence inn very close to the port!! :thumbsup2

OK, I have not been following the thread I started too closely the past few weeks as between work and coaching lacrosse, there has just not been much time. That said however, I think it is time to start gauging this year's dinner link. As many of you know, because you were there, we had about 65 people for the link in 2007, and back in 2005, we had around 100.

The link will be late seating and will be either the 8 or 815 time slot, depending on which I can get and which one we collectively prefer to be determined closer to the cruise date as Disney has a habit of changing the dinner rotation patterns.

For those interested, I will need the real name of the person on the reservation, the room number if you have it (it you have a guarantee, this can be added later) and the reservation number(s). Since not everyone will want to post all of that info here, my preferred method of receiving it is by email at icelaw21@aol.com , although I will (eventually :) ) see a private message.

There are probably about 25-30 people who were part of the links in 2005/7 already represented on this thread and all are welcome.

Chuck:cool1:

Oh my goodness - 25 rooms - yahoo

will others join after we board the Magic or no?
will we get a listing of rooms to deliver to?

We are on early seating for dinner - and DH and DBil like that idea for this cruise - maybe if I can get another cruise out of DH we can link at another date :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Actually after we get off the Magic we will start our countdown for Hawaii :)

Trace - the cherry blossoms were beautiful! I don't know how long they will be blooming, though. Hopefully you'll get to see them!

DS's band looked and sounded fabulous. :thumbsup2 He was exhausted after it was over. It was very hard to play with the wind. They had to cancel the majority of the balloons for the parade due to the high winds.

We went into two of the museums afterwards, but everything was PACKED. We had a late lunch in Chinatown, and then waited a while to get on the Metro, which also was packed. It was crazy!

Hi Laura,

We're in DC now (just arrived today). I'm hoping for good weather...but....the forecast sounds bad. Glad you all had a good time. By the way, the Cards play the Pirates tomorrow in St. Louis. They're expecting snow in St. Louis so it ought to be an interesting opening day. Wonder who will win.......(Go Cards!:woohoo:)

Karen

Let's Go Bucs! :cool1::thumbsup2 PLAY BALL!!!

Have a great time in DC! Logan's band is still there. They are taking bus tours of the city today, having lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe, and then heading home later in the afternoon.

Should we go with the blue? :confused3 It matches the DCL colors.

I'm not sure if they are still giving away the CC bracelets.

The Red-White-Blue swirled bracelets also come in adult and youth sizes. Does anyone like that one, or should we stick with a solid color?
