Turkey Day Gang 2009

Woohoo! I'm SO EXCITED that DCL finally switched to an Eastern itinerary for Thanksgiving!:cool1: The only drawback, IT'S TWO YEARS FROM NOW!:guilty: I'm trying to think of a way to squeeze in another Disney cruise between now and then. We were going to be so sure to book spring break for 2009 if it was an Eastern (which, it is, if Rachel's school sticks with the same week.) But, we'd rather sail with the Turkey Day gang too. So, this is the best of both, but still a long time from now.

Hi everyone!

Wendy -- We told Andrew last night that we booked and his first question was whether or not Lindsey was coming too? I told him that she was and he was thrilled! I'll PM you with his e-mail address so that the two of them can continue chatting.

After 3 Western cruises, we are very excited that this is an Eastern! I can't wait to take the Ferry to St. John and go to the US Virgin Island National Park...I hear there are some wonderful beaches and great snorkeling there. Not too terribly thrilled about St. Marteen though...wish they'd replace that with another day at Castaway Cay -- :thumbsup2 -- that would be awesome!

I think Turkey Day 08 we're planning on heading to WDW to get our fix of Disney just before Christmas...anyone want to join us?

Karen

Just checking in. We booked turkey day 2009 last night. We are in 7054 Same room we had this year!!

Wooo hooooo!!!! I just figured out how to get that countdown thing in my signature!!!!

Yep, it's the small things in life, particularly with technology, that make me happy!!!!

So, now I know how long it is to the cruise......:sad1: ...that a long time to wait.....

St. Maarten actually has one very good excursion - that we are going to try this spring if we can get it...sailing the 12 meter World Cup boats. As to St. Thomas v St. Johns, we have not decided whether we will shop in St. Thomas or ferry to St. Johns.

Now all we ned is to get Willie and Lampy, and maybe even the 5J's, Doug and Andrew, and we will have a very full link of Turkeys.

Chuck:cool1:

Is there something wrong w/the Disboard's clock? the actual time here is about 45 minutes later than the posted time.

Wow...Andrew would love to sail! Maybe we'll look at that one for us. Is there an age requirement.

Karen

I think the clock has been off on the DIS for quite a while, though before I think it was only off 20 minutes or so.

I've just starting researching excursions, and the boat racing looked good to me, too.

I'm so happy - I talked to my mom earlier today and convinced her to join us! :goodvibes I'm also trying to talk two of my sisters into booking this cruise as well. However, one of my sisters is afraid that she'll be seasick the whole time since she is very prone to motion sickness. Anyone here have any experience with motion sickness? I'm going to put a thread up on the main cruiseboards as well.

Laura,

Steve fights motion sickness and I fight vertigo! Tell her to take some ginger root and dramamine and she'll be fine. We took dramamine on our last trip and Steve used it 1 time -- the night we were coming back to Port Canaveral -- other than that he was fine!

As for me...my challenges start when I get off the ship...I'm dizzy and I rock for quite a while...I'm still a bit dizzy/rocky today though it does get better each day. Hopefully by Christmas the world will stand still!

Show her your photos and remind her of 1) how much fun we had and 2) how relaxing it all is...and then, if she still needs convincing, tell her to talk to one of us!

Karen

FYI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The extra $50 stateroom credit for those who are Castaway Club members who book this week for 2009 cruises is CUMULATIVE to the $200 onboard credit, so all those who booked Turkey Day 2009 yesterday who have already sailed once (or more) on DCL should make sure they get the extra stateroom credit.

Chuck:cool1:

Thanks, Karen. I've gotten some other great responses on the main board. Everyone is saying the same thing - there's nothing to worry about! I'm going to call her this afternoon when she's back home. Hmmmm....maybe I should leave a message with my nieces or nephews to ask their mom if they can all go on a Disney cruise with us? :rotfl:

Chuck - I was glad to hear that the $50 CC OBC can be combined with the $200 rebooking OBC. :thumbsup2

A married couple from anytown USA are at the Kitchen table. Each with their laptop, typing away... Checking out all of the known Disney sites. Wait..... The pecking away at the keyboard has stopped. From that moment, there is an excited yah hooo, HEY Look at THIS. EASTERN 2009 TURKEY! CRUISE.

Then another excited yah hoo!, we don't need two rooms, DS will be away, in the Army or out on his own. The wife says to the husband, Let's not take the Girls either!.... A quiet hush over the table......DD's come to the room. read what we are doing. Objection from their voices!

So, what's going on? We are asking the other Turkeys

ICE/ Mickey send us the scoop, Willie- the girls not going? based on your prices?

Hey John

2009 is happening and is going to be bigger and better. We are booked and have our room #. Rachel and her bff will be with us. Chuck and Lisa are in also. We have at least 6-7 families from the 2007 cruise that are booked and ready to go also. So whats keeping you from booking? Come get in on this one before it books up.( we tried to book 2008 t-day while on board 2 weeks ago and found out that it has been sold out for 2 months).
