I combined Tupperware Jubilee held at the Dolphin with some Disney time last week. Arrived July 31 and checked into the Dophin. Our group had 3 rooms all together but none were ready so we went and got something to eat. Went back and were able to get into one room at 3:30. Our first meeting is at 4pm and it is dressy! Twelve women in a room trying to get ready in about 20 minutes is not a pleasant sight. One big problem is my wheelchair had to be left in the hall.
Get downstairs to the meeting and find our distributorship and meet my interpreters. Already met one before, both are good.
Thursday night, all day Friday and SAturday morning are Tupperware meetings. Nice thing for Sat. is that the 2 interpreters changed and the ones that came included my good friend.
Friday night was not so great. I was waiting in line at desk to find out if the could transfer my luggage to All Star Music in the morning when all of a sudden my powerchair started going in circles. One of the motors died. Yuck. The husband of a consultant turned it to freewheel and literally pushed my wheelchair to the room. I called and left a message with Care Medical that I needed to rent a power chair or a scooter and hoped they would return my call.
Saturday morning no call and I had to limp to my meeting. I had planned to go to AK after Tupperware finished but that would not happen. Care Medical never called so after I finished with my meetings I tried Walker Mobility. This was about 2pm. They had a scooter to me by 4pm. Wow! Then DH and I went to the Poly for the Luau. Brian and Emma interpreted it. Emma is new to me but very good. Story line is lame, food is ok. Probably not do it again any time soon and stick with Hoop Dee Doo.
Sunday morning my husband and daughter left to go to the panhandle and I headed for MGM for the day. Got to Indiana Jones and saw that Brian is interpreting. I enjoy him. Rode several rides and did some shopping. Marisol at the candy shop by Villians is especially nice and goes out of her way to find out the sweetener for the sugar free candy so I can decide if I can have it. All is good and I buy several pieces. Parade gets cancelled so Kelly, the other interpreter, and I chat for a while
before I head back to the resort and a quiet evening.
Monday I head for Magic Kingdom. First stop is the Castle and Cinderella's Surprise Celebration. Brian and Theresa are doing the interpreting today. Get to see Belle's Storytime (rained out last few trips) and go on Jungle Cruise then skip Diamond Horseshow and the Riverboat so I can go to Scoop's Pin Talk at Exhibition Hall. Jennye comes to interpret that. She's super and I really enjoy her. That over I go watch the parade and then get ready to leave and head back to the room to change for Pleasure Island and Comedy Warehouse. Brian and Tara interpret that. It is so good to see Tara again. Another one of my favorites and really a friend as well.
Tuesday is EPCOT. Theresa is interpreting today. Did lots of rides including Mission Space. WOW that ride is incredible. And it is captioned. I must remember to not capture my captioner under the restraint system. After I headed towards England for the street show but it started thunder and lightening and then raining so bypassed it and headed to Japan for sushi. Then downstairs to by some snacks and canned green tea. My daughters will be happy when I get home. Got a call from dh that he can't pick me up until Thursday. He went to the ER Sunday night with high B/P and a severe nosebleed. Get room extended so I leave on Thursday. One more day at the parks.
Wednesday is back to MGM. Jennye and Alan are interpreting. Leave the hotel in plenty of time but first bus driver refuses to load me because she has already started loading able bodied passengers. Second bus bypasses us because first bus is still there. Great! Wait 20 minutes for 3rd bus and no lift. Now I am upset. Finally 4th bus arrives and puts the scooter on. The lift breaks and will not retract. I am stuck on the bus. I email Jennye to let her know I am stuck and may not get there in time for the first show since she is expecting me. I'm stuck on that stupid bus for over an hour. Do they do any guest recovery. Nope none at all. I barely make Indiana Jones. Fortunately castmembers there recognize me and tell me to just go on around to the front and park the scooter and get to my seats. We have a bunch of deaf already there. Parade happens today. Yeah as there are 3 young kids with their deaf parents and the really want to see the parade. After Aniamation Tour I head back to the hotel.
Thursday I head to Magic Kingdom again while dh arrives and packs me up. Had a blast. Got to see Diamond Horseshoe. Lame story line too. Doubt if I will go to that again. Hard to see interpreters with everyone jumping in front of you trying to get pics of their kids with the characters. Worst part is the woman with a huge bag who must have had bricks in it. Boy did my head hurt after it slammed into the back of my head. Brian and Theresa were real troopers interpreting the parade in the rain. That over I went back to All Star Music, met my dh and we drove back to Miami.
GOOD: great interpreters as always.
BAD: getting stuck on a bus for way too long, Dolphin Hotel rooms are too small, wheelcahir busting.

Now I am waiting for my cruise in less than 2 weeks!

All in all - sounds like a good trip - thanks for posting!

Sounds like you had a nice trip, despite several bumps along the way (some literally, LOL). Thanks for sharing your trip. :)

Thanks for posting ~ Sounds as though you had a wonderful trip!!!!

Lisa, you really open our eyes to the deaf world when you mention all the interpreting you receive at DW. Wow, we really take things for granted. May I ask you a question about the interpreters? Are they already there at each attraction, waiting for potential deaf guests or do you have to let the DW folks know ahead of time that you will be arriving at that park? I'm just curious how it all works.
I have always had a fascination with interpreting. I used to watch the woman at our church sign the whole mass and be completely enthralled, trying to figure out exactly the words she is trying to get across. Someday, I'd like to learn it, but I wonder if its like any language...if its not used, you kind of lose it.
Anyway, sorry for my babbling! Have a great day and thanks for posting about your trip!

Lisa,
Did the driver of the first bus not see you? Why didn't he just stop loading the others and get you on board? Did he call dispatch for you? This doesn't sound right. Did you contact anyone about it? Sorry that you had problerms with your PC but glad Walker's helped out. Hope you DH is feeling better. I'm jealous of your travel plans. Have a great cruise.
