Tune In Lounge question

Hi, Disney's website notes that Tune In Lounge in DHS is a Table Service restaurant but it doesn't take reservations. So my question is do you just walk up and wait for a table? This may be a stupid question with a very obvious answer but I've noticed that Disney's website often leaves out crucial information at times and I don't want to assume that we're OK to go to dinner there and then find out that there is some caveat not mentioned on the website. We have the SWGS Dessert party scheduled for 8:15 so I figured we could grab something quick there around 5:30 or 6:00 before we head over to Launch Bay.

Thanks.

Yes. It's like the resort or TS lounges throughout WDW and is first come first served. I would wager that the lounges in the park are quite a bit busier than the ones at the resorts!

They probably are. I'm guessing because the food is better quality than the QS places. I don't mind waiting.

No It is NOT a Table Service restaurant. It is a Bar/Lounge. You can walk in and wait for a spot to sit at the bar if you wish. It is a very small area and it is the busy waiting area for the 50's Prime Time Café. The seats at the bar are frequently occupied by those waiting for their tables, as well as those who just want an adult beverage.
You can order from the full menu there, once you have found the number of seats you need. But I wouldn't consider it quick
Good Luck

Agree with Hopefully - it will be hit or miss as to whether you'll be able to grab seats at the bar. It's first come first served and as mentioned, usually occupied by people waiting for tables, etc. I would do one of a couple things - either try for a 50s Prime Time ADR, stop by Tune In Lounge at an off time to see if you can get seated (2-3pm maybe), or plan on a quick service dinner.

Thanks. See, that's not mentioned on the website. It just says "Table Service" and has a kid's menu listed. To me "Table Service" means you sit at a table and either have someone bring you food or you get food from a buffet and eat at a table. It seems odd that they would offer a kid's menu if you can only sit at the bar. I didn't think kids were allowed to sit at bars (at least here in NYC, children aren't allowed to sit at the bar).

The WDW web site is full of misinformation, unfortunately. Patrons sitting at the bar can order from the entire 50s Prime Time menu, including the kids section. We don't have kids, but to my knowledge, there's no laws against kids sitting at the bar. I've seen it before in WDW. I'd think it's just up to parental discretion.

Thanks. You'd think they'd be more accurate. So my question may not be as stupid as it sounds. :)

Totally a valid question! The WDW web site is horrible and I think some of the misinformation stems from all the IT glitches they have. Nothing wrong with making sure on here - smart thing to do!

See, this is why I come here. I get answers from people who've been to WDW before so even though I'm a noob, I won't be wandering around the parks wondering where to go and what to do! :crazy2:

Another lounge option is Brown Derby, but the tables are outside. This is walk-up, as well.

In these cases the lounges are considered separate from the restaurants, and they don't take reservations to sit in the lounge - they are strictly first come first served. The Tune Inn is very popular and you can have a long wait for a barstool (especially if you need multiple stools).

Technically, there are some old fashioned sofas with coffee tables in front of them, maybe they think that qualifies as Table Service :lmao:

Actually, the website says "Table Service" when you see it listed in the listing of all locations:

Once you click to get more detail, it indicates it it as "Lounges":

OP: That bar that you see is the the "Tune-In Lounge". Every time I have been to 50's Prime Time, the couches have been individual waiting to be seated for their ADR.

You can sit at the chairs and couches if you're patronizing the bar...but there's no walk-around server. If you want to order anything you have to go to the bar and pick it up at the bar.

Florida law has no prohibition regarding underage persons sitting at bars. Some facilities at WDW might have their own policies about that. I can tell you from experience that Tune Inn Lounge is not one of them. In fact I have been in there where the majority of the barstools were occupied by small children (apparently from one family).

And yes, Tune Inn does serve the full Prime Time menu. But that does not make it a table service restaurant. The website's characterizations are often illogical because they try to fit everything into a few limited categories.

Thanks for the info - especially about the Brown Derby being walk up outside - we have never eaten there and always see the outside tables. Now I know to check if some are empty, maybe we can still eat there.
