Just wondering if anyone experienced any stomach upset from any of the food on the Mexico excursions/or on your own travels while in port. I had heard that the food wasn't good for the cliff divers show - but was it just unappetizing food or did anyone actually get sick?

It wasn't a matter that we got sick, it was simply lousy food combined with terrible service.

Do the cliff divers on your own. Many of the people we talked to said the food wasn't anything special for that excursion. I know the shops connected to the restaurant are way over priced. See the divers and go somewhere else for lunch. There is a Carlos and Charlies, Senor Frogs, Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood and some other great looking restaurants all in that same area.

I did not have any trouble after eating/drinking in the Mexican ports. Usually if you stick to the larger touristy resturants you won't have a problem--even with the ice. If you want to know why you shouldn't eat at the little "local" places, flag down a taxi and ask them to take you to the market where the locals buy their meat....

We went thru one of those local markets and saw the meats laying right out in the open on the counters. Got a picture of a whole pigs head and a whole side of beef!

We had a lunch on the City Tour in Puerto Vallarta.(the DCL excursion says "snack"). It was a drink, 2 cheese quesadillas, fresh corn tortilla, quacamole, salsa, beans, and chips and it was excellent and no one got sick. At the Krystal Hotel we had real good Pina Colada's on our own. This is in walking distance from the ship 7-10mins.
On the Matz walking tour we stopped and had chips and a drink. Without thinking about the ice, we ordered ice tea and had no problems. The bakery (Bettys house) on this tour had some ants and flies on the cookies and pastries so I didn't buy anything! My DH was brave and ate some though and he was fine. (UGH)

In Cabo we ate on the beach at "the Office" and it was the best! Again, no problems!
We thought about Cabo Wabo, but it was a 40min wait for lunch so skipped it since Cabo is 3:30 tender time.

i expect that there is no problem eating at the resort hotel like krystal and EL CID I have read reviews on both and I am sure cruisers ate there also. Not just had drinks.

OK call us brave or stupid but we ate in all 3 cities and had NO problems whatsoever. In PV we ate at Carlos O'briens and had drinks with ice, in M we ate and rank at both the EL Cid and at a place called Panchos and lastly we ate and had HUGE margaritas at the Mango deck in Cabo. All 3 of my kids ate here too. Mykids were sick but before the stops.Maybe all the germs cured them. :rotfl:

We ate in PV, Cabo and Mazatlan, and didn't have any trouble. But if you saw some of the restaurants here in our small town, you'd have to figure we are immune to germs!! LOL

WE ate at I think it was called Tony's right on the water, well, beach. It was great. Mazatlan's Franks guy Tomato took us there. It is buy El Cid. It was great food, the BEST shrimp and guacamole . We had soft drinks there, and they said they use purified water for the ice, but we didnt' get sick...

You got a smiling pig. Mine was standing upright and had hollow eyes and looked real creepy! I haven't got my pics up yet or I'd post it! That is just too funny.
Great pics!

We ate in all the cities on our cruise also, Curacao, Acapulco, Mazatlan and Cabo. We had ice in our drinks and we didn't have any problems at all. We have also eaten in Grand Cayman, Nassau and Cozumel without incident. Go and eat..enjoy your trip..whats the point of visiting a country if you don't try things.
