Tulum Ruins on our own

Hello,
I need some advice on doing the Tulum Ruins on our own - we are a group of 7 and want to cost compare for taxi/adimission if we choose to venture out on our own.

DD7 and I did the Tulum Ruins tour last Aug. It is wonderful. Personally I would not try to do this tour on my own. 1. The site is quite a distance from the ship. 2. If you were delayed in getting back to the ship DCL would have no obligation to wait for you.

I suggest that you go, just go with the tour.

I agree. While we usually do our own excursions the Tulum tour is one I wouldn't risk on my own. It is at least 2 hours travel time between the ship and Tulum (ferry to the mainland, then ground transportation to the site). We booked the tour through DCL and would do it that way again.

The tour was great, BTW, and we really enjoyed our time at Tulum.
