Kind of off topic...we are taking our new TT out this weekend, no not to the Fort:sad: not yet at least. If we are leaving late Fri. morning, when should I turn the refridge on to cool it down? I was thinking of Thurs. night:confused3 Does this sound right? Thanks for the help.:)

It should cool down overnight. I leave mine on all the time but I have a plug right out side the TT.

Yep we allways turn ours on the day before and pack it a few hours later. Don't froget to make sure gas tanks are on fridge should automatic turn to gas when you unplug for traveling. Have fun and good luck.:cool1:

And always check the fridge once you unplug to make sure that it switched over properly. Mine on occasion has failed to switch to gas correctly when unplugging from AC. Just have to turn it off and back on to get it reset.

We do 24 hours, too. And it will work better if it is full of cold beer.

Mine is 12V only and I turn it on high when I pick it up from storage, then when I get it home, I load my clothes first, and other miscellaneous stuff, then load the food right before going to bed. Mine only takes about 2-3 hours to cool down.

Don't your clothes get kind of cold in the fridge, Carol?

The fridge doesn't use much. The furnace and hot water heater use more.

Wonder how much propane it will use in 24 hours?

When we bought our trailer I was told the fridge could run a month on one bottle but never tried it. I do know ours will go a week with no problem.

If running the fridge on Battery, it will drain power quicky. Fridge on battery is not for long term. Battery power is while traveling only, while it's hooked to your Tow Vehicle. Leaving the proprane on while in route is not a good idea.

I have to hook ours up for a 24 hours before we leave and my DW is meeting me after work with the TT and where heading out.

That is true for 2-way or 3-way fridges, but a 12V only fridge can last up to 3 days on battery only.

I'll have to disagree with you. RV refrigerators are built to run on propane while traveling. They should be turned off while refueling you vehicle. Most states also require you to turn off the propane while driving through a tunnel. We plug our TT in a few days before we leave to get the fridge cold and then run off propane while driving to keep everything cold. If you do not fell comfortable leaving your propane on, your fridge will probably stay cold for about 4 hours or longer.

My trailer is constantly plugged in at home, so I leave the fridge on. I use it as a 2nd fridge and freezer for what doesn't fit in the house fridge.

Is this bad for it? Silly question, I know, but humor me please:goodvibes, thanks.

We also travel with the propane on to keep the fridge and freezer cold. We also have to make sure the propane triggers before we leave because we have had melted ice cream before:eek: - not fun to clean up.
