TT and BTMRR were closed for refurb for our last trip. BTMRR was also cliosed for refurb for our DL trip the year before and the Cars-like TT thing at CA had not opened yet. I was hoping and praying my DS's third visit starting Tuesday would FINALLY result in him getting to ride those 2 rides as they were the ones he most wanted to do. I looked at the wait times for TT for the last 2 days and it always says closed....can someone please tell me if this is a mechanical thing? I have got to prepare my 6 year old for a third trip of disappointment if it is a long term thing.

Thanks in advance.

Test Track was running fine on Friday. We rode it twice. It's DD7 and DS4 new favorite ride!

How are you checking the wait times? Using an app? I just looked at the my disney experience app and it says 60 minute wait with fastpass available. Don't they close TT if it is storming? Maybe it has been breaking down? But you should have a chance to ride sometime in your trip as it isn't closed for refurb right now. Have a fun trip!

The MDE app and another free app both said CL 15 minutes ago. Now they both say 60 minute wait. Does this ride close often (other than weather)? Or maybe it opends later than 9am? What would happen if we had a FP during the period it shut down for some reason? The PH option is looking better and better. If it closes the day we do EPCOT we could just run there on an alternate day it is running solely to do that ride.

I'm getting it open right now with a 60-minute wait.

Hi all Reading the OPs post and the answers is it possible that the APP is kind of hit/miss if you're not on property ? OP is not there, trip starts Tues I don't have the APP so just wondering :confused3

Test Track was late to open each morning that we were in Epcot this trip. I'm not sure if it's mechanical or something else but it didn't open until 10:30 or after both days.

I also read on a group page that it was closed this morning as well but opened about 10:15 a.m.

TT is prone to periodic shut-downs (some mechanical, some weather-related). If you have a FP that comes due while the ride is down, they will honor it the rest of the day.

Rode it at 8:55am on Thursday (6/13) morning. No wait first thing in the morning at the most recommended park.

We were there from June 5-14, and TT was not closed. It went down when it started storming and when the tropical storm came through.

I just checked two wait apps AGAIN including MDE and TT is down again at 3:10pm. So much for that refurb last year....

We were there on Friday. test track went down shortly after noon for mechanical issues. We kept checking but it did not come back before we left the park for dinner. We had fast passes and the cast member told us they would be honored later in the day

Alas, it seems that the major refurb hasn't increased the reliability at all :(

We were there a couple weekends ago, and were planning to get our first look at the new ride. However, it had just been shut down - with people still in the cars on the track overhead.

Didn't get a chance at it again.

And the eastern side of Futureworld is eerily quiet when Test Track isn't running...

I wonder if there is some sort of issue with the technology for this type of ride as it seems both TT at WDW and RSR at DL break down a lot and they are similar rides.

I usually use a FP for TT so if it does breakdown then I get to come back at any time.

Not trying to be snarky and I know you want your son to have a great trip but watching things like wait times and weather before your trip is just going to get you all hot and bothered. There's nothing you can do about and you are working yourself up over things you can't control. Prepare your son (and yourself) for disappointment and if you can ride, that's a bonus. Going the other way is nothing but heartache for all those involved.

VERY sound advice :thumbsup2

TT has had issues with ride shutdowns since before it originally opened, so it's certainly a much more fragile system than many others and if RSR uses the same system (which, I'm sure they do), then it would also explain the downtime there. I'd also suspect that the fragile elements of the system are based in the very root of it, hence even a lengthy refurb, or a new version using the same tech, wouldn't solve it.

On top of the mechanical issues with the system, TT is one of the only attractions that also is closed during rain (not only lightning, but just plain rain). In the summertime in FL, this spells closure at least once a day as well.
