TSMM: Worth the first thing in the morning wait?

Hello all...we're headed to the parks next week and DS is SUPER excited about TSMM. Its a MUST that we ride, hopefully more than once.

I have been reading others posts about the ride and have been wondering, is it worth it to wait in line at the gates of DCA and then line up again for TSMM? Looks like from what I have read the wait is down to 30-40min. during the day. Seems like if you waited at the gates of DCA for opening (9am), then waited in line to be walked over to TSMM and then waited in line at the ride, best case scenario you'd be waiting a total of 60+ minutes.

What thoughts do others have? Is it really only a 30-40min wait during the day?

TIA!

Happy travels to all those leaving soon.

Last week we waited 70min. the first time we rode it and then 40min. on Sunday definetely worth the wait!!

definetely worth the wait!!

Oh, I'm sure the ride itself is worth the wait, I have heard its great, and even if it wasn't my 4 year old would most likely never speak to me again if we didn't ride it. ;)

What I was really asking, and I guess I wasn't clear enough, would waiting in the line first thing in the morning at DCA actually make the wait longer? With people reporting waits as little as 30-40 minutes during the day, it seems like waiting at the gates of DCA, then waiting at the line up inside the park to then be lead to the line at TSMM would actually make the wait longer, not the shorter as intended.

Thanks for the input, sorry my first post wasn't clear.

We planned to ride it twice during recent trip, got on line before 9:30 am & on ride before 11 am...such a fun, great for all ages imo.

2nd day was a bit of a mess, we again decided to wait in line 1st thing. There was difficulty getting the ride up & running. It was hot & only 1 stand was open w/fruity-type beverages (family wanted water or soda), so I walked down to Burger Invasion & Corn Dog place @ advice of CMs. Neither was open even though they were supposed to @ 10:30 am:confused3 .

Came back & found a supervisor telling guests that she didn't know how long it would take to open the ride, if it would @ all:confused: . At this point nearly 11 am. I asked re return FPs & she told me that since the ride never "officially opened" that day; she wasn't going to authorize them.:rolleyes1 .

can't say that i know what DL's policy actually is in this instance, although i have always been given FPs w/o asking when ride operation failed @ WDW.

CM insisted she was senior mgmt in the park & her decision was final. Just seemed a shame for those who had lined up almost 2 hours prior and now were left empty handed.

my point to shaggy dog story: although my experience is limited to the 2 days i was in the park, i'd be inclined to make sure that the ride is up & running before I invested any amount of time in the line (especially, 1st thing in the am)...@ least until the "bugs" are worked out.:thumbsup2

From working at WDW at an attraction with Fastpass I can tell you the policy there is based on where you are in the queue when the ride goes on. On the attraction I worked at, the policy was you only got a re-add if you had already seen and moved past or were in the room about to see the pre-show when the ride went down. Even if you were next in line to go see the pre-show you wouldn't get one. I didn't like it but it was policy. Just an FYI.

thanks for clarifying, would've been nice if the supervisor had explained it thus so.

trying to recall where we've been online in the past @ WDW,couple times in the pre-show, mostly it's been ON the ride itself & we've been given FPs...sometimes more than 1 if we've been "stuck" for some time.

still, doesn't seem very magical to invest 1-1/2 hours in dedicated line & have nothing to show for it:confused3jmho

If you can try to wait 'till they are near closing. I had a 10 min wait at 9:00pm a couple of days ago.
