I wanted to know if it's possible for my DH to walk through the queue with me and our DS6, but not go on the ride? Our DS is a Toy Story fanatic and DH wants to see DS's reaction when he walks through the queue for the first time, however, DH suffers from motion sickness so he doesn't want to chance going on it.

How bad is his motion sickness? The ride does whip you around from scene to scene bit I don't think motion sickness will be a problem. I think it's more of a cover yourself placing that warning on the sign. But to answer your question I suppose he could walk through. Then once it's your turn to ride he could just walk through the car to exit the ride.

There aren't many people who get motion sick from this ride. If he's really sensitive he might have a problem, but otherwise I think he'd probably be fine.

The only rides so far that he has gone on that have caused him problems were the simulator rides. Personally I think he would be able to ride but he doesn't want to chance it. However, he would like to see our DS's reaction as he walks through the queue. Thanks for your help.

I suffer from motion sickness and I'm fine on TSMM. As the PP said, there are jerky motions, but not bad enough to get me woozy. Some days, I'll pop a few Dramamine jus in case I go on something that may affect me. It's a rather short ride. Good luck!

Yes he can go through the line and then ask the CM for the exit instead of riding. ALL rides have a place to exit before riding. :)

Thanks, my DH will be happy to hear that. He really doesn't like to go on many rides. He worries too much that he will suffer with motion sickness.
Many thanks to all that have responded. It is greatly appreciated.

I know TSMM will let you walk through, but this is not true for Pirates. There is NO chicken exit at Pirates; they told me I'd have to go back the way I came -- through the entire (full) standby line!

I thought all rides had a place to exit before riding as well, until I found out different. It's probably best to ask before getting in any line.

Then that's the chicken exit. The point is no CM will force you to board an attraction. :goodvibes

My only point was that the exit before the ride might be the entire standby line in some cases. I would have preferred not to ride POTC at that particular time (I really just wanted to see the queue), but my only choice was to either push through a few hundred people or ride. I rode.

So I'd suggest asking here or asking a CM at the ride before getting in line.

I have horrible motion sickness and the ride doesn't bother me at all.

DD16 and I both suffer from motion sickness yet neither of us have an issue on TSMM.

What really helps us on our Disney trips are (1) Sea Bands, and (2) taking 24-hour less-drowsy Dramamine at bedtime each night of the trip (taken at night assures we don't feel sleepy during the day).

Without those two things, we would not be able to do all the rides we do. We still avoid spinning rides, but are able to go on many "iffy" rides like Star Tours and EE (although we only ride it once a day because it does make us feel a bit dizzy).

I don't ride TSMM because it makes me motion sick. I get motion sick EVERYWHERE, on everything. I can't ride the tram from the parking lot or take a bus without getting motion sick. I take one Bonine every morning before heading to the parks, and there are still things I can't ride (teacups, astro-orbiter, barnstormer, star tours, mission space, etc). Other things make me queasy for a bit, like BTMRR or Buzz Lightyear. TSMM is one of these. I get motion sick as the vehicle whips around the corner, and it lingers as a headache and queasiness for about an hour… and this is WITH motion sickness meds. However, it's not severe. I have ridden TSMM twice and choose to no longer ride it, especially now as with tiering at HS, I can let DD use her FP+ for TSMM and mine for RnRC (another that I don't ride!).

OP, if it's really important to your DH to ride TSMM, if he takes Bonine/dramamine and doesn't mind a little residual discomfort, he should be OK. (this from the girl who can get motion sick in a bathtub!)
