TSMM at rope drop this past week?

Anyone been there this past week and tried rope dropping TSMM since they stopped giving out day-of FPs? We will be there for just the morning on Monday and I am thinking of rope dropping it, but not interested in standing in line for 50+ min.

Apologies if there is a thread on this already; I don't see one specifically for how things have been in these last few days. TIA!

I did it today! We got to the gates around 8:15 for a normal park open of 9 am (no EMH). I think they opened the tap points at 8:30 ish. We were pretty close to the front at the first stop point. They released us from there around 8:55 and that’s were things sucked. It was a mad rush of people. Strollers, wheelchairs, large groups. Just passed One Mans Dream CM’s started organizing us into a line. We passed the “old” entrance, crossed over the path, snaked a bit, crossed back over the path in front of that car from Cars and then entered, around 9:20. They had started another snake area at one point after us. There’s a lot of stopping and starting as they do controlled releases of sections. We were off by 9:35.

It definitely didn’t feel like just over an hour from arriving to getting off, in part probably because of all the starting and stopping and moving you do. The green army men were out helping direct traffic and play with kids.

Yep! Honestly it went pretty fast. The worst part was the mad rush to the actual ride.

We rope dropped it this past Saturday on an EMH morning (which we used). We were at the tapstiles by about 7:15-7:20 and EMH started at 8am. There were maybe 10-15 people in front of us. When we were let in we briskly walked directly to TSMM and we were towards the front of the pack but not the very front. I didn't see anyone running or pushing. We got on in about 15 minutes once we lined up at the TSMM entrance.

We arrived about 10 minutes prior to rope drop last Monday, got straight in line, by the time we made it up to the actual entrance the sign said 135 minutes (we then got out of line- we've all ridden it and it's not a top ride for us). By mid-morning, it was down to 50 minutes (which was kind of amazing considering both RnRC and ToT were down). So, basically you can wait before park opening by getting there super early, or later in the day. Pick your poison. We had a lot of early mornings but TSMM just isn't that important to us get up earlier than 7:45.

Maybe others can chime in here. When we went in March they had the lines that started on the ride side, crossed over to opposite side, crossed back to ride side (all outside). Once we got to the actual building entrance, the line was pretty short inside the building since there is so much blocked off, so once you get into the building there isn't a very long wait until getting on the ride.

Can people who have been more recently confirm whether this is still the case?

I would have liked to at least gone in to see what the line looked like past the entrance, but once it went from 120 to 135 minutes while we were still standing outside, my kids were not willing to give that a chance. One of them doesn't even like the ride. I would wager it wasn't that long but since it actively increased while we were standing there, who knows?

We were there on Thursday, 4/20. We had a PPO breakfast at Hollywood and Vine. We were the first in line at an inside the park rope. We were allowed to go to TSMM as soon as the park opened. It was a crazy mob running..chaos, however the cast members forced everyone into smaller and smaller lines until it was a single line. Like a previous poster said it was very controlled. The line snaked across the street then back again. The green army guys were there to distract the kids and for photos. Even being there so early and running with the mob, it was a 35 minute wait.

If you’re interested in an alternate strategy, the posted wait for Toy Story was down to 20 minutes toward the end of the evening. The actual wait was likely in the 5-10 minute range.

This may be a more efficient use of time than fighting through the morning crowd. It’s definitely safer and less stressful.
