TSM Single Rider Line Gone For Good?

We went on the ride once before, and I did the whole line on crutches. I saw some people maneuver on ECVs, but I just didn't dare because I was afraid I'd hit something. So I agree, that maze is something you got to me careful with and it would be great if they had a separate waiting area or a second line for those with walking problems. Maybe at least some benches, and you can join your group again later.

As I had never heard a word about that pass before, I thought I'd at least let people know it is there.

Thanks for the info, Vala! :goodvibes

I used single rider several times when I was out there in September. One thing I noticed - they would only put a single rider with an adult, not a child. I wonder if there was some kind of molestation incident or they were concerned about that. I have never seen that on any other single rider line.

LOL I highly doubt they had a molestation incident. :) But they DO put single rider kids with just about anyone, DD9 did SR, they put her with an adult. Only once tho, since we know about all the fun stuff to unlock we all ride together now. :) We did SR the second time we rode, the line was an hour long, we waited in the line and rode once, got off and loved it so much we all wanted to go again so we did SR line. DD9 was put with someone random, DD12 (they are now 10 & 13) was put with me, DBF was put with someone random, so DD12 and DD9 switched so DD9 rode with me but DD12 rode with someone random. And they DID ask the parties we were put with if SR's were ok.

I would prefer not to sit next to a stranger for something competitive (TSMM) and wouldn't like to sit ONLY next to a stranger for something I consider genuinely terrifying (California Screamin', though I don't know if I'll ever ride that again). Obviously on Soarin' and Indy, you'll also be sitting next to someone you DO know unless you rode by yourself in the first place, so I don't consider that to be an equal comparison. At any rate, I wasn't trying to argue the merits of SR in general--just on TSMM.

Regardless of my preferences (which I consider to be as valid as yours), I don't think the reason Disney removed SR on TSMM was that it was annoying a few people who were seated with single riders, because that could be remedied by asking riders' permission to be seated with a single rider.

I personally think it's more likely that it wasn't saving guest wait time overall in this case. (I thought filling in those seats took time too; it seems to me the logistics would be trickier with TSMM--with 4 or 8 separate stations that may or may not need a SR--versus the one or two compact vehicles in the other rides that offer it.)

Or maybe it was taking too much CM labor (why should they staff an extra CM to make just minor improvements to the overall guest wait time?).

Or as I mentioned, POSSIBLY, even the single riders were on average waiting too long (I know others have said it wasn't much of a time-saver at TSMM) and/or maybe even complaining about how long they had to wait.

My dad is in a wheelchair and when we went to Disneyland circa 1989 as a party of 4, they made us split up (at least one person waiting in the standby line) so we didn't get to skip any lines at all there. It would have been nice to be allowed to stay together as a family, however long we had to wait, but that wasn't how they did things back then--at least, on the Jungle Cruise and per the official Park policy. (Besides that and the train, I don't think Dad bothered riding anything.) We didn't get any special (positive) treatment, but on the other hand, that led to getting somewhat less time together as a family than a group that didn't have a member in a wheelchair, so it wasn't perfectly equal treatment either.

I am just THRILLED that there is a "roll-in" boat in Small World now. My dad can't transfer now so this is one more ride he could actually do! Well, he could if he didn't hate Disneyland and crowds. :(

Of course why that option was offered on TSMM to begin with, and not on other rides, I don't know? :confused3

I think it's b/c it made people nervous, to have a relatively slow-moving ride, that might be out in the hinterlands, especially if it breaks down, and have people with a stranger.

I've been put with a kid. Not a small one; he was probably 11, and his dad OK'd it when they asked if they'd be OK with a SR. I was obviously standing there, all safe looking.

I LOVE riding that ride with strangers! I've never seen it as a competition ride at all, perhaps b/c I'm with strangers or a 5 year old. :) I just compete against myself. Though since I found out about turning over the farmhouse (hit the squirrel) I tell a fellow rider about it. :)

The 11 year old was great fun, cracking up as only 11 year old boys can do, and another adult I rode with was the third wheel in his party so it seemed nice for him to have someone to laugh with.

If it's gone forever, I will miss it greatly.

I don't know if there was an instance, but I do know if I were in a family party and we had do be broken up, it would be an adult sitting by his or her self. I guess that's one of the instances I was talking about where the situation matters in my decision.

I think I've sat next to kinds using single rider, although I don't know if it was planned, rather than the family decided after I was qued up that they would change sitting arrangements.

I wanted to say that TSMM is one of the funnest games to be paired with a stranger. We used the line a few times and each time I either sat next to my own kid or I sat next to a really nice person who was a ton of fun to play the games with. :) When I went with my girls only and we did TSMM (DBF had to leave one of our trips early but the girls and I stayed) I had the girls sit together and I sat with the SR. Fun fun fun!!! :)
