TSM and TT with no FP+ and no rope drop....

Am rethinking our plan for our upcoming early May trip (May 9-14, 5 people, 2 adults and 3 kids, ages 10, 12 and 14). Currently, we have 5 mornings to possibly RD a park (including our last day - our flight out is not until 9 pm at night). Our plan is to RD MK 2x, AK once, sleep in 1 morning, and then leave 1 morning flexible, with afternoon FPs at AK that day, so the intent is to hop. We are staying at YC, and have PH, so my thinking was that we would hit HS and EP in late afternoons or evenings and then whichever one we didn't get enough of (or couldn't get on our favorite rides) would be the one that we RD on our "free"/flexible morning.

However, that still leaves one park without a RD day. Should we change our plans up so that we RD each park? (We would eliminate an MK RD, but go later.) Or is possible that we might be able to get on TT and TSM (our EP and HS favorites) either as a 4th FP (for TT) or in the late evening (esp for TSM, which has no FP during our trip)? We'd like to hit Soarin at some point too, though it's not as crucial.

Also, if we do RD EP, we would be coming into IG. By the time we get to TT, will it already have a line? We have afternoon FP for EP on our sleep in day, but got one for FEA, so couldn't get one for TT. Should we change it to TT? (I know about the single rider line, but I was thinking we might want to be together at least once.)

Thanks for any thoughts!!

You could always wait until later in the day when the lines are even shorter than at rope drop.

During our most recent visit, we hit Test Track around 8 pm when most guests were already heading to World Showcase for Illuminations. The posted wait was 40 minutes but the actual wait was only 10.

TSM has very short lines in the evening. During another recent visit, we lined up about an hour before closing time while most guests were getting ready for Fantasmic. The posted wait was 70 minutes but we were able to ride 4 times in that hour and still made it to Fantasmic.

Just keep in mind that the posted waits are intentionally exaggerated at night to discourage late riders.

I would worry about tsmm if that is very important. There is a chance that there will only be one track going at that time. It' hard to plan bc they haven't given a lot of detail as to how this ride is going to function until toy story land opens.

This is wonderful, I was thinking we would skip HS this trip (going mid May), but we might be able to squeeze in a late night HS trip just for a few rides. You think if we show up 2 hours before close we can hit ToT, TSM & TT?

It's definitely easier to get FP for MK later in the day, so I would swap one of those rope drop days for either EP or HS. Flip a coin or choose which ride is most important to you. As others have said, if you do either as the last thing, just before closing, you won't have much of a wait. However, if you're doing Illuminations, F! or SWS, then you probably don't have that option.

I don’t think there’s any way to ride TSMM, ToT then hop to Epcot and hit TT in two hours. I’m pretty ambitious, but I don’t think that do-able.

With only 5 days, I’d skip your sleep in morning and do RD at both EP and DHS. Or, only RD MK once... I find most rides there are fairly easy from a FP perspective.

We once rode ToT 13 times in less than two hours so I guess anything is possible, but you’re going to be very hard pressed to make it to 3 major attractions in 2 hours in two separate parks.

Another good benefit of arriving late is the parking attendants are probably gone and you can park right up front in spaces that have already been vacated. This might be doable only if you drive yourself and get some favorable breaks.

Sorry, I totally meant RnR not TT.

Well that makes a difference. RnR does maintain a longer line later than the others, but your plan may just be doable. The wild card this year is Toy Story, which may or may not have multiple tracks open when you visit so I would save that one for last.

During a normal summer, we would probably ride Tower about 4 times, TSM twice then RnR once or twice if we had a couple of free hours.

I would RD HS once instead of MK twice to definitely get on TSMM with the one track scenario. TT you can always try late and you also have single rider option as well.

We got a 4th FP+ for TT on our last trip. I would RD HS one day to do TSM, since the line could definitely get unbearably long with only 1 track running.

I am in a similar situation. I plan to rope drop DHS on an EMH morning to ride TSMM. I am using my FP+ at the park I visit later in that day, since I don’t plan to do ToT, RNRC, or ST.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I am leaning towards using our "free" morning for a HS rope drop (for TSM) and possibly doing a quick rope drop at EP before our Cape May breakfast at 10:00 (for TT or FEA - better for FEA?) Is that feasible? If we do that, we can then use our FP for the other ride - FEA or TT - after breakfast. It's currently an FEA fp, but there is TT availability so we could switch. There is also a chance that kids could want to cancel character breakfast because we have another two days prior at AK.

On that note, which is more likely to get as a 4th FP, FEA or TT? And is it even likely to get a 4th one as late as 2 pm on a Sat in May?

We went to Epcot for RD at the end of February and used our 3 FPs there. We then walked over to HS and were able to get a FP for RnRC and ToT. ToT was a walk on even without our FP so we did that one 2 times in a row. We did end up riding TSM as well, but not until the VERY last minute the park was open. I wouldn't count on getting it in unless you want to wait a long time or go right when the park closes.

I would think TT would be easier as a 4th FP, but either might be doable if you keep refreshing the app.

If you have brft at Cape May at 10 and are entering at IG coming from YC, I think FEA makes more sense distance wise . I would be at IG at least 1/2 hr before opening so you can head right to FEA at RD, since there will already be a line starting from PPO ADRs at Akershus - I don't know if IG usually opens same time as Epcot main entrance, for those people heading towards Norway - maybe someone with that info. can comment. I think it will be tight, but you should be able to ride and head right back for brft. TT is probably more possible as a 4th, and you have SR option.
