I just bought last minute air tix for my ds and his future bride to extend their honeymoon after their cruise. I put the tix in my future DIL's married name and she just made me aware that she won't have any ID in her married name. What was I thinking? How should I remedy this?

Call the airline and see if you can get the name changed on the ticket?

I just had that happen to my mom when we went to CA last week. I called the airline and they couldn't do anything for me. My mom had to run to the DMV 2 days before our flight and get the a new ID in the name from her divorce papers. Now, my mom was just lazy and hadn't gotten it done from almost a year ago that she was divorced.

Call the airline and ask if her marriage license is enough to prove the new name for now. That's all I can think that would prove the new name. Have they gotten a copy of it yet?

They have their marriage license, but they don't get married until the 21st and leave for the cruise then. I should have known better since they make it clear that you have to have the same name as on the gov ID. I just assumed a marriage license would be enough. I deserve whatever hassle I get for this! This is what happens when I make decisions and reservations at 2 AM.

Oh, they're not married yet. They'd most likely need the signed and stamped copy you get after it's signed by the officiant.

I'm sure you can pay the name change fee the airlines normaly charge. I gues syou'd have to call the airline to know if that's possible.

If they're getting married on the 21st and honeymooning right after, they won't have the copy of the license the courts send them to use as proof. Mine took 3 weeks to get processed and mailed to me. My officiant took it after the ceremony after it was signed by the witnesses and he mailed it. They won't have it in time to use as proof.
