TS vs. CS

Anyone else think that some of the CS places at WDW have food that is as good as, if not better, than many of the standard TS places? I am not comparing the higher end TS restaurants like Narcoosees or Artist Point to CS, but on our trip, two of the best meals, foodwise, we had were at Tangierine Cafe in Morocco, and Yak and Yeti CS at AK.

We had free dining, and really enjoyed that experience, but next time, i think we would either choose the QSPD or just pay OOP for CS.

No, I don't think many of the CS are that good, especially in the past couple of years. Pepper Market used to be in that category but we have a lot of reports that it's deteriorated rapidly as far as offerings and food quality.

Tangierine Cafe can be good if the food isn't cold, but I would eat inside Y&Y every time before I'd eat outside.

Wolfgang Puck Express is also good, as is Earl of Sandwich (the latter isn't that good a deal on the dining plan though)

The Seasons one in the Land at Epcot. The bakery in France. And we like the FC at POP. When we go back witht he kids I think we will do QSFP next time. I would not do regular or Deluxe plan again unless it was a week or longer trip. We did the DP on a 5day trip & I wish it would have been the QSFP. And for us nothing beat a burger with the fixin bar at Pecos Bill yummy.

Except for Earl of Sandwich, there is no comparison between CS & TS places for me. I very rarely get meals at CS places anymore.

I don't think I'd say "many" of the TS restaurants, but there is certainly some great CS food to be had in the World, no doubt. We've been so many times in recent years that I'm a little burned out on many of the TS spots and for this upcoming trip, we've only got two ADRs and plan to wing the rest. We've gotten used to the dining plan and were total gluttens. I'm curious, on this next trip, to see how far as we stretch our dollars. A great example is our children. I'm pretty darn sure one kids meal between them will suffice quite well. We'll see...

Personally, I don't think that overall the CS food is better than the TS food at WDW. What I do think is that the CS food at WDW is way better than other theme parks I have visited. I just see more variety and better quality food overall at WDW. I also believe that the CS prices are WDW are very reasonable, especially considering what you are getting in comparison to other places, like Sesame Place where a kids' meal is $9.

I think there are a few good CS and a few bad TS. Overall, I would say that I do not think that the CS meals are better than the TS meals.

I personally think that Earl of Sandwich and the Contempo Cafe are among some of the best counter service locations in WDW. However I also think that Liberty Tree Tavern and 50's Prime Time Cafe are some great table service restaurants, so I guess it depends on each person and how they like to eat when they are at WDW.

Just my opinion. The few counterservice places I ate in the parks during my 2 trips to WDW was not very good. But, I'll say that the CS breakfast at All-Star Sports was very good, especially the chocolate chip pancakes... and the Tonga Toast at Polynesian.

Around Thanksgiving in 2008, the counterservice lines in MK were very long -- I wondered if TS would be faster. TS at many restaurants, to me, could be very fast, especially buffets if you just want to eat a light meal and get out. With ADRs, I've hardly ever waited more than a few minutes to be seated. But, I'm never in a hurry so we always take our time.

TS, of course, requires tips... and they really added up for us the last trip!

I think some (a few) of the CS restaurants have maintained their quality/quantity etc. well over some of the TS restaurants.

Love Tangeriene Cafe, the schwarma platter in my opinion is still as good as years ago. Sunshine Seasons is really good and fresh and I think you actually get what you pay for. I feel the same about Columbia Harbor House. I don't care for most of the Disney buffets, other than Boma, the quality and selections have really changed over the last several years. I won't eat a CS burger anymore, the taste of the meat (?) can't be covered up no matter how many mushrooms or cheese sauce I add to it. Disney packages the TS meals to feed the masses and in so doing reduced many food options and quality cuts.

I would say some CS is just as good as TS like WPE...the food there is wonderful!
