This may seem like an odd inquiry. . .

I have viewed hundreds of pages of DisBoard "food porn"----but it is hard sometimes to determine portion sizes/quantity. My husband has a hearty appetite (he isn't big---so I have no idea where the food goes?!). Next year we are thinking of trying the DDP for the first time-----but I'd hate to think an hour after a TS, my husband will be looking for a CS to supplement his meal?!

While we enjoy the Biergarten---I'm not looking for more buffet suggestions.

DISers with appetites, please comment on sizes of entrees (potatoes/steak, etc.) at Le Cellier----or the Pot Roast at Prime Time Cafe-----or the Sheppard's Pie at Rose & Crown-----or and Italian entree at Tutto Italia.

We'll probably opt for the DDP anyway----but I'd like to hear from y'all!

Thank you in advance, DIS Dining Pros!!!!! :thumbsup2

Most WDW locations serve what I would call an American portion. Meaning the portions are decent sized to rather large overall. The steaks will typically say the size on the menu, or ask your server. There are a few exceptions that will serve a smaller European portion. Unless it was something I simply didn't like, I don't recall having left a TS location and feeling the need to eat again in an hour. With DDP you will also have a dessert which in itself can be filling.

My husband has a big appetite as well so we tend to order appies and desserts along with the entree, there are very few places that he cleans his plate but when he orders a steak like at Jiko, Flying Fish, Kona and Le Cellier he eats every single bite.

At the other restaurants, if we nixed the appies and the desserts he would finish his entree...but then still want snacks :lmao:

thank you for your comments. . . appreciated! I'm sure the portions are more than fair. We've eaten at plenty of CS locations and a handful or so of TS restaurants. . .I know we (he) wouldn't starve of course. . .and afterall, we conveniently bump into several ice cream carts! (A Mickey bar will fix most everything!)

You have hit on the key. If your husband doesn't find he is getting enough food a snack or two is always a great way to supplement. Also some of the TS restaurants have excellent appetizers and bread. We always order double rounds of bread at both Le Cellier and Kona Cafe.

:yay: Saw your ticker. . .just over a month to go. . .have a great trip and enjoy the free dining!!! (hope one day to time a trip accordingly so as to take advantage of the great offer!)

Thanks again everyone, for your input. . .

The portions are not as large as regular restaurants especially the protein portions. If he doesn't have dessert or orders something lighter like grilled fish (sounds like he won't) he could very well still be hungry. I tend to order fish pretty often and only eat the veggie not the starch or bread and I have definitely been hungry afterwards pretty quickly but with snack credits it works out fine.

I thought the portions were large. They appeared to be much larger than they looked on pictures. DH thought they were plenty also.
