Does one have to be in the process of purchasing food to do any conversion of credits or may the credits be converted by concierge?

For the Food and Wine Festival, we would much prefer to snack around the world than have table service meal - is there a mechanism in place at the resorts to convert a table service meal to snack credits that we may then use for the F&WF?

Or is there a way at the resort food court to convert a TS credit to snacks? If so how many?

Wondering what the best strategy is to do what we prefer...
Do we need to use a TS credit for a CS meal, then a CS credit to get 3 snacks at resort and then use other snack credits at F&WF?

Thanks,

No, they won't convert credits to snacks for later use. You might get them to convert a QS credit to snacks at your food court at the time of getting snacks but even that is iffy and seems they are phasing it out.

The only credits you'll be able to use at F&W are snack credits, and they will not convert any of your other credits to snacks there. The only place anyone has had luck converting CS credits to snack is at the resort food courts or "grocery" store.

I hope you got the dining plan for free as it doesn't sound like you're planning to utilize it for it's full benefit.

You cannot convert CS credits to snack credits in advance. As the PPs have said, you might be able to use a CS for snacks, but it will depend on the CM. Also, when allowed, it has usually been at a resort food court and the conversion will be done at that time. The number of snacks allowed per CS credit also varies from 1, 2 or 3. While some have been able to do this, as aarcher said, it has gotten more difficult and some CMs will mention that in the FAQs of the 2013 dining plan it is not allowed:

Q. Can Guests substitute a table-service or quick-service entitlement for a snack?
A. No, Guests may not substitute a table-service or quick-service entitlement for a
snack.

While the idea of converting as many CS and TS credits as possible to use at F&W sounds like a good idea it won't be possible because the F&W food booths only accept snack credits from the dining plan.

Also, you'll be wasting the value of the credits when you downgrade. A TS credit, for example, is worth about $38 so unless you got free dining (and even then you paid rack rate for the room), you won't recoup the value by downgrading.
