TS and not ordering a meal for child

We are a family of six. Our youngest is an extremely picky eater. At least one of the TS restaurants we have picked I know he won't touch the food (Teppan Edo), is it acceptable to not order for him. (Of course we would find something he would like before we went and fill up his little tummy).

I think that would be fine. I did that same thing for my DS when we went in June. I don't know how young your child is but my DS was only 14 months. He was eating whole foods by then so we took him to Electric Umbrella and got him chicken nuggets and fries. When he was full we headed over for our ADR at Tokyo Dining. The servers were so nice. DS got a bit cranky, even though I had cheerios and other snacky stuff to distract him. So the CM brought him an origami swan and a little toy. They were extremely accommodating for a young family. HTH :goodvibes

When we went in April my youngest daughter was 21 months and they brought me an extra plate and I gave her food from mine. I didn't get any weird vibes from the staff. The only weird thing about the place was the family next to us...we tried to hold a conversation with them and obviously we weren't to their liking. :confused3 :rotfl:

I'm just going to say he and his brother (who is 5) are sharing. My 6yo is so so picky so I am bringing him a PB and J to eat. I'll gladly pay for a PB and J there, but I don't want to assume they'll have one. We are paying out of pocket so I will order him milk and anything else I suspect he may try.

My boys often split meals at other restaurants so I am hoping it will be o.k. to do that at Teppan Edo.

My ds vomits if he eats something he dislikes. :scared: He did it all over Le Cellier (He thought the banana chips were fresh bananas....ooops). We don't want a repeat of that. Nor do the other people eating. We ran as fast as we could with him but my DH was just shy of the bathroom when he lost it.

Hi!
You don't have to order meals for everyone at a TS location, unless it's a buffet or family-style. Example - on trip a couple of weeks ago, the six of us ordered 3 TS meals (2 adult and 1 child) at the Sci-Fi diner, and shared them. At all the other places, though, we were charged our 6 TS meals - but they were buffets (or family style - the Garden Grill), and that was what we had expected.

I have read that sometimes it depends on your server - but all of our servers went out of their way to be helpful and accomodating!
Hope this helps - have fun!

fruit, pizza, chicken nuggets, 'tacos', plain noodles, hamburger.

Teppan Edo has udon noodles, so maybe he would like that. If they have chicken, they might be able to make some sort of nuggets. Just ask.

The TS restaurant are soooooo accommodating. So, if they might be able to do something, just ask.

Here's our experience...There wasn't anything on the Le Cellier menu that DD3 at the time would eat. We asked if they could make a grilled cheese, and the waitress came back and gave us a selection of three breads (they didn't have any sliced white bread). We asked for an English muffin, and they used a white cheddar and turned the English muffin inside out. And then they used some sort of alchemy and created the best grilled cheese that DH or I have tasted ever.

I don't think that you will have a problem if you decide not to order for him. If it is buffet or family style, I think that you have to pay in any case. But at a regular TS place (where waitperson takes order/brings food), I don't think that you will have any problem.

Have a great trip!

I don't think it would be a problem. Just wanted to add though that we found the servers extremely kind at Teppan Edo and they definitely went out of their way to please. The kids meals that are not Teppan (cooked on the grill) come with chicken terryaki nuggets (not breaded), white rice, veggies and a fruit cup. They also come in a really cool bullet train which looks just like the monorail. I know there was another kind of chicken available to. (Tempura?)Not saying you should order it, but there is some plain food available to the kids if you think it would be better. :goodvibes

I also have a very picky eater, a little better now but back in 05 when we went, he was 4 and would only eat Ramen Noodles and chicken nuggets. We were in Epcot and wanted to go to the TS is Italy but I knew he would not eat, so we went to the the little snack place and got him nuggets and fries thinking he could eat them while we waited to be seated. There was not a wait and I asked if it was ok if he brought it in and they said that was no problem at all, so he sat there and ate his food while we waited for ours then colored and such while we ate.

We ate at the Brown Derby with the Fantasmic package and DD(7) just wasn't hungry. So we didn't want to order food just to go in the garbage, so we told the server she wasn't having anything. We were on the DDP and she said said she felt bad we were going to lose 2 credits and she wasn't going to eat anything. We told her don't worry about it (we were on vacation and sometimes it just doesn't pay to get all worked up) it was fine we still wanted the Fantasmic passes so charge us the credits. Well she didn't and she gave us all three passes:goodvibes . It was super nice of her and she didn't have to do it-and we would have mentioned how wonderful she was to the manager-but we didn't want to get her in trouble-so we just did something better -we gave her a 50% tip;) .

I have heard about horrible service at Disney and I can honestly say we have NEVER experienced it. I think you will find the staff to be very understanding and helpful:thumbsup2 .

It shouldn't be a problem, I have picky eaters and have never had trouble at any of the Disney TS restaurants. All the servers have gone out of their way to make our kids happy.
