Trying to understand sharing Memory Maker

We are going to Disney w/ my MIL who has a separate room/reservation. I have a friend who is also there the same week and she asked if we'd like to share Memory Maker. I think they may have more than one reservation as well because it's a large family traveling together.

I think I understand that in order for everyone to have our photos show up on MM and see and download our pics we need to be linked as family/friends under the MM account of the person who purchases it?

But what about editing photos and adding borders and such? I think it seems only the person who purchases it has this ability, so I'm guessing we'd need to share the login access to that account?

I see people mentioning creating a separate account for MM to share but how does one do this. I assume they just use an alternate email and set it up with only Memory Maker on it? So it wouldn't have reservations/FP, etc. just MM? I was thinking it wouldn't allow someone with the same name to have 2 accounts but maybe I'm wrong as long as the email is different?

Thanks for any help clarifying this for me. I read a lot of posts but still feel a little confused and I don't want to screw this up.

I believe you can have all the pictures that are on other bands added to your account. Memory Maker worked out great for us - I like it better than photopass plus...

Memory Maker is the same as PhotoPass+, but with the addition of ride photos.

Nope, the only photos that can be downloaded using the MM are the ones in the primary account (the person who bought MM). Anyone linked properly to that account can add photos via their Magic Bands. But you CAN'T edit photos in one account and download in another.

Link it...everyone can add to it and it makes it very easy for sharing between the members of your party. You might be getting pic in one area of the park when they are getting another. Really easy! As for the downloading, it is the person that purchased the MM. The easiest way to share the editing is to share the passwords. We did that this year and everyone in the family had a great time editing, then at the end, my hubby posted them all on photobucket for the family to use as they wanted. Good luck!

Was that supposed to be "can't" instead of "can"? Otherwise, it's exactly what I said.

Tagging along on this post because I also am having trouble understanding Memory Maker. Today I pre-ordered the Memory Maker and by mistake, at the time of purchase, assigned it to my teen son's account instead of mine. I noticed that in my party of 8 (includes myself, hubby, 2 teens and one child (8 year old) in one room) and my sister and brother in law in another room, only myself, one son and the sister in my same room showed that they had "memory maker". Figured out how to change the assignment of memory maker from my son to myself. I called Disney and the agent (she is new and couldn't answer all my questions) assured me that anyone, friend or family in my party could have their Magic Bands scanned at the time the photo is taken and the photo would end up in my account but only I could download it. At first she told me that only the 6 of us in the same room reservation could share the memory maker but I corrected her and told her that isn't at all how I understood it would work. I almost told her it only worked that way on the Disney Cruise! So it is true that all 8 of us can scan any one of our Magic Bands and the photo will end up in my account? But the photos can only be edited in my account?

On the fence about MM and also have questions. Also asking, everyone linked in my account can get pictures taken and scan their magic band and those photos will be in my MM account? Even if I am not with the person when their photo is taken?

$160 is a lot of money to spend and not even have a single printed photo. Don't know if it is worth it. $60 - $100 would have been more reasonable and I bet they would sell tons more of them.

Yeah, I think $169 is a lot too. On our last visit in 2012, I think we still paid the $99 pre purchase CD price. Or was it $129? Guess this does include ride photos/videos which might be fun but if we weren't going as a party of 8 and for 8 nights, I would not think it would be worth it.

The thing is, it would only be photos that the CMs take...so how many would that actually be over four days? They aren't at the character breakfasts.

I wonder if it would make more sense if the Memory Maker had "tiered pricing" and it was more expensive the more days it covered, similar to how longer cruises have a pricier full image photo package. Although those cruise packages are WAY pricier and we had so many issues with the photo recognition software and never ended up getting all our photos and got sick during the cruise so that we ended up with less than 50 images. They also don't allow the photo package to be combined over multiple cabins unless you are immediate family only. But it may very well be the one and only cruise my family will ever take.

Agreed and not buying anymore I don't think
Bought two times at $99 and that was pushing it even though we ended up with 1000 images after boarders, we only ended up printing like four

Do you have to have the MagicBands to take advantage of the Memory Maker? We will have a party of 10, but no one will have the bands since we are offsite this trip. Can we all just carry photopass cards and then have them all show up?

im going for 8 days and think im going to get it the value depends o the person. For me i love photos most places photos are my souviners and im from canada so disney isnt somewhere i can go whenever, i actually have been dreaming of it since i was 4 and am going for the first time this year at 24
