Trying to understand how it all works - MB and FP

I'm a newbie to DW (obviously by my questions).

What are magic bands? Are these your park tickets? Does it include your DDP credits? (Or am I totally out to lunch...no pun intended)
If DDP is not on Magic Band, what do you hold onto for this?

For Fast Pass, is this something you get/sign up for before you go, or when you get to the park? Is there a limit of how many rides/events you can use fast pass on?

I know my quetions are probably quite 'silly', but just trying to understand how it works and what I need to do beforehand.

The magic band is nothing but a scanner.

It contains a specific number that is used to access your My Disney Experience (MDX) profile.

Anything you have linked to your profile can be accessed by the magic bands. Your park ticket. Your room reservation, including dining credits if you have a package. You can use the band to open the door for your resort, to enter the park, and to pay for anything if you have it set to charge back to your room. Your band will also access your dining credits. You will set a PIN number that you have to use for every transaction. You do not need anything else. The band works just like your KTTW card did in the past, you just do not insert it in a slot or swipe it. You touch it to a scanning point, enter the PIN if you are purchasing something or do the finger scan if you are entering a park, and the band is supposed to do the rest.

If you're staying onsite (there are some others who can, like AP holders and some offsite guests who are testing now) you can book fastpass plus reservations up to 60 days before arrival. You are limited to three selections in one park per day. If you choose Magic Kingdom, you can make three FP+ selections in MK and that's it for the day. You can't get more than three at this time, and you can't get any in a different park for the same day.

This is great. Lots of reading to do to fully understand but am going through the FP one and it makes sense. Yes, another advantage to staying onsite. Love as well, the suggested list. Very helpful. Thanks.!

One question about FP - I assume it's 3 FP per family?
