We are going to AKL for one night after our cruise and attending MNSSHP for the evening. We are debating on whether or not to get the QS or Regular DP for the day. We will be arriving at AKL around 11am and will have until 4pm before we head over to the party. We know for sure we will only be eating counter service for lunch and for dinner. I don't for see skipping lunch since our breakfast time is at 8:00am, so everyone will probably be hungry around 1ish. And since we are attending the party in the evening there will be no time for a sit down dinner. However; we do plan on eating at BOMA's for breakfast before we hit the road which is only $19 per adult for breakfast, which is where I get hit with the fuzzy math.

On the QS I don't see the refillable mugs for everyone being worth it for only one day and then the $19 breakfast doesn't seem to justify the $10 increase over the QS.

I hope this makes sense to someone out there :worship: and they can help me weed through if I should go with the QS and pay cash for the breakfast at Boma's or pay for the regular plan and pay for the extra counter service for lunch at the hotel. Or option number 3 is not to do the dining plan at all and pay cash for everything.

Any help would be so appreciated, I am driving myself crazy with this  and I leave in 2 weeks so need to finalize what I am doing!

Are you an AP holder? If not, you can only get the dining plans with the purchase of a package which I believe requires at least a 3 night minimum.

But, for one night, I think I would forgo the dining plan because neither one fits your needs and both options would have you spending money OOP on top of the plan you choose.

Not all QSDP packages require a 3 night stay.

Really you will just need to do the math and also consider which option fits best in your schedule.

I am sorry I didn't mention that I was DVC. I don't have to purchase park tickets in order to get the DDP. I have run the numbers a couple of times and the one thing is for the counter service I would have to eat at Cosmic Rays just to break even. Not that we don't like Cosmic Rays, it definitely fits the bill on a counter service, but I know that if we paid cash we may eat somewhere else like Peco's Bill. At AKL the only choice you have is Mara so either way we would be eating there.

The major component of the QS that is throwing me off is the refillable mug. With only being at the hotel from 11am-4pm and in the morning we won't have a need for the mug. And with the regular program, Boma is only $19 per adult which when I look at the numbers shouldn't a sit down meal be around $26 just to break even?

I would skip the plans and just pay out of pocket. Neither plan fully suits your needs and you will be paying out of pocket for something. Plus without the plan and worrying about breaking even you won't have to eat at Cosmic Rays when you prefer Pecos Bills or make other compromises.
