This will be my second trip to WDW. I took my little sister last year in February during her school vacation and it was so crowded! I decided on going in August since I really don't want to take her out of school and refuse to go during school breaks but everyone is turning up thier nose saying it will be way too hot and will be raining every day. Now I am worried and need some feedback. Do you think it will be that bad?

Last year we visited at the end of August into early September. It is a new thing for us having to deal with school vacation times. I was concerned, like you, that the weather would be too hot and humid and very rainy. I can't deal with humid heat.

I was surpised. Yes it was hot, and humid, but not as bad as I thought it might be. We wore light clothing, kept hydrated. It did rain, but not constantly - usually in the afternoons, the majority of the time it was fine for us. If the rain was too heavy, we would call it a day and go back to the vacation home and watch a movie or play games. I think we only did that once it two weeks. (It did rain more than that, but only once did we leave the parks early because of it)

Our dates were the 18th August and we were there for 2 weeks. That time of year is lighter for crowds because some schools are preparing to go back - so that is a plus.

All the parks have areas where you can cool off. Make use of stores, restaurants and of course indoor rides/shows for opportunities to cool off. We also had some personal misters and fans that we took with us just in case. Kids got to play in the water areas to refresh themselves.

It is not my favorite time of year to visit, but I would travel there that time of year again.

Hope that helps.

We went last year from 8/27-9/8 and it was hot and humid, which we were expecting. It rained a little every afternoon or threatened to, but the dollar store ponchos did the trick. We went a few years ago at Easter and I will take hot and humid August/Sept over those gridlocked crowds ANY time! The light crowds make the heat and humidity much more bearable.

Get your ponchos and have a great vacation.

We've headed down twice in August and would do it again except that I really want my children to see the holiday decorations the next time we go. Try to go as close as you can to the end of the month when the crowds are lower. Get to the parks when they open, head back to your hotel and then head back to the parks later in the day and take advantage of late closing hours. This way you can avoid the heat and you may want to plan on a show or indoor activity to run to if it rains. We had very good luck with the rain but beware we know others that have gone and it poured the entire time they were there. Have fun.:goodvibes
