Please help me narrow our choices. It will be me, ds (4), and dh. Our son (4) loves Donald Duck, but I'm still not sure how he will handle him in person. We are undecided on the following restaurants for dinner:

Mama Melrose Restaurant (MGM)--for fantasmic package
Liberty Tree Tavern
O'hanas
Concourse Steakhouse

We have decided on the following TS meals so far:

Le Cellier (dinner)
Coral Reef (dinner)
Chef Mickey's Character breakfast
Crystal Palace (dinner)
Cinderella's Royal Table dinner (Should we do the character breakfast? I didn't think son with a boy)

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

My vote for Liberty Tree Tavern as it tends to be "normal" fare and pleasant environment. Ohana's I worry about food choices for toddlers, Mama's - picky people in my party about sauce, and you are eating at Le Celliers so you have 1 steakhouse type listed to try so it would be a little different. So thats my 2 cents worth - I know alot of it really depends on what types of food your family eats and there are people with younger kids that love the others too so whatever you choose I'm sure will be a hit. What about Donalds Breakfastsaurus in AK if your son loves Donald - this is the only character meal I thought he was guarantee to be at??? Maybe not do Princesses if you had to choose 1?

My DSs have enjoyed Cindy's. It was SOOO cool to be inside the castle. Alladin is there I think  . Look out for the Fairy Godmother in the lobby downstairs. My eldest cuddled in her lap & whispered back and forth w/ her for a long chat. The princesses were very good w/ the boys and treated them as wonderful gentlemen. I guess it depends on whether your 4 yr old would be comfortable w/ pictures w/ the girls. We made a big deal about how special the castle was and my boys ate it up.

We love Liberty Tree & Mama Melrose too. If you are doing Fantasmic, the dinner package is truly the best way. If arrive closer to 8:30 for Fantasmic the wait will be much more bearable for him. I think you have to get there at least 30 min before the start, so don't get there too late either. It's a little loud & scary at times for some kids though, so we like getting there later to be closer to the top. It also makes for a faster exit at the end. Good luck!

You said your son liked Donald. You do know Donald is at Chef Mickey's for dinner, don't you? I don't think he is at breakfast. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. At dinner he's out in the lobby and is absolutely wonderful with the kids. He doesn't seem to be as big as the other characters, so maybe won't be as frightening. (Goofy is REALLY tall.) When we went to CM for dinner in January, Donald grabbed my 8 y/o GD's autograph book, pointed to himself, and raised one finger. My son finally told my GD that he wanted her to say he was number 1, before he would sign her book. Well, he picked the wrong kid. My GD doesn't have a shy bone in her body and proceeded to tell him in no uncertain terms that this was Chef Mickey's and he was number 1 here. It was apparently the moment Donald had been waiting for. He started jumping up and down, throwing one of his royal tantrums after which he signed her autograph book writing Donald #1. She then put her hands on her hips, shook her finger at him, and told him Mickey was gonna get him for that. He then grabbed har hand and kissed it. They had everyone around them in tears of laughter. I don't know which was more funny seeing Donald throw a temper tantrum, an 8 y/o shaking her finger at him and telling him off, or the look on my GD's face when he stopped her in mid tirade by kissing her hand. He was excellent and really took his time with the kids, never getting in a hurry. He also seemed to know which kids to tease and which to just quietly sign their autograph books.

Of course, Donald is also at Donald's Breakfastosaurus in AK, if you want to catch him there and he signs autographs at MGM too.

Like aubriee stated CM's for dinner is awesome and Donald is there in the lobby for your DS to meet...more than once if he likes, but he has only been there for Bfast for us once, and that was Easter Sunday.

I second Donald's Breakfastasaurus at AK...he is the host there! The food is really good too!:)

I also third MM's at MGM! Yummy NYC/Italian with good service! :teeth:

I fourth LTT as well! Great food and interaction with the Gang! :Pinkbounc

ENJOY! :earsgirl:
