Trying to pick between two character meals, Liberty Tree Tavern and
Chef Mickey's. Which would you choose and why?

We've done both and my vote went to LTT. Here's why:

The character interaction with our kids was better at LTT.
We liked the setting better (less noise, less chaos).
We LOVE having the food brought to us instead of having to go back and forth to the buffet. This way my dh and I actually get to sit together and eat as a family instead of one of us always up getting more food for either ourselves or the kids.

The only thing that I would choose CM over LTT for was the variety instead of the set menu. I like being able to sample 10 different desserts if I want to! :earboy2:

I like them both, but never did dinner at Chef Mickey's. Like dinner at LTT and it means you're in the MK which is one of the best places in the world to be. We go to Chef Mickey's almost every trip because we have a collection of pics of us with different people who have joined us on trips that they take before you're seated.

We didnt enjoy LTT at all and we have had great experiences (3 times) at Chef Mickeys so I recommend CM's over LTT!!!

This was an excellent review!! Thank you very much!!

Chef Mickey's has a great fun atmosphere (especially for kids) but I'm not as crazy about the dinner buffet. However, breakfast is great!

LTT is also good and I'd eat there for dinner over CM.

Tigertam...can you give us a little more info? Are you just adults traveling? Do you have children in your party? Ages? Are you doing Breakfast or Dinner? (LTT doesn't have breakfast I know, but I was wondering about the plans). I know I'm asking all sorts of questions, but here is why. We are nothing but adults in our party of 6. Out of us, we are split straight down and here's why.

Liberty Tree Tavern:
*Family Style meal...don't have to get up to get food
*Don't have little hands in the food bowls on the buffet (no offense!)
*Character interaction okay
*Your already in the MK
*Food is dang good!

Chef Mickey's
*Breakfast/Dinner
*Pic what you want, don't have it brought to you
*More choice
*More room to move around
*Chracter interaction okay*Bright and colorful
*Well, dern it, the food is dang good too!

So out of 6 adults......your 50/50 here.

So I didn't take the poll, because I couldn't decide. That's a toughie!!!!

our only experience at LTT was HORRIBLE! 30 min wait even w/ a PS, terrible food, no response from the manager............awful. The character interaction was great, but I paid for dinner and it was inedible. We actually left all the food on the table and didn't eat. And honestly, we are not picky people. This is the only place I would complain about the food and service with in the entire WDW complex. :sad2:

Liberty tree hands down, CM is loud and the food is off poor quality, the character don't spend alot a time at each table

Hands down Liberty Tree Tavern! We just went to WDW in May and tried many Character meals - CRT, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickeys, Donalds Breakfastosaurus and Liberty Tree Tavern - We enjoyed them all however we all agreed that Liberty Tree Tavern was the best of them all - We enjoyed the food and the character interaction was the best out of all of them. We will definately do LTT again in the future!!

Chef Mickey's for me. It's a buffet and has great character interaction.

I beleive it depends some on when you are going. If you plan to go to MK in the fall, schedule a LTT at closing time...which is normally around 6:00. What a fun way to end the day! Then you can leave the park with just a few people around you!

We've done both and I emphatically vote for Chef Mickey's. It's a tradition for us--we go for our first dinner every visit to WDW. The food is good, character interaction is a lot of fun, plus the monorail overhead lets you know you're at Disney!

Our dinner at LTT in January 2004 was a giant disappointment. The setting, service and characters were fine, but the food was dreadful. Remember, LTT is owned or sponsored by Stouffer's. Well, everything tasted like Stouffer's food from the freezer section--turkey breast, mashed potatoes, stuffing. Everything was tan, bland and tasteless. And, believe me, Thanksgiving dinner is one of my favorite all-time meals. But, it has to be prepared well. I don't know how you could make mashed potatoes with so little taste as at LTT! It was our last dinner of that trip and it was a disappointing meal memory to have to hold onto for several months.

At least at Chef Mickey's, if you don't like something, there's the whole rest of the buffet to choose from. I doubt we'll be back to LTT until they change their menu!
