Trying to Pick a Resort - Help please!

I was thinking more of room size and comfort with the studio for the two of you. In terms of value, yes, more people = less per person so that is more justifiable for cost. A studio gets pretty tight with a family of 4, so since it's just the two of you, this would be a great time to try one. So just crunching numbers loosely the last week of March, Pop is about $160/nt average, POR is $240, BC is in the mid to upper $500 range...you can get a BCV studio for about $280. Yes, $280 is a lot more than what a night at POP would cost, but is almost half of what a room would cost at BC. You could do 2 or 3 nights at POP for nostalgia sake then split stay at a DVC for something different.

Thanks, Amy, for the information! Where did you find the $280 price for BCV?

Contemporary really isn't spread out, even with the Garden Wing. Not by the standards of somewhere like Pop.

Is AOA out? It would seem like a good compromise between trying something new, getting that over the top disney feel and still being close to Pop.

Of the ones mentioned I would go with AKL or if budget allowed BC/YC. AKL is just themed so wonderfully and is really great value for delux. BC is in such a great location you are totally immersed in Disney between being able to walk to 2 parks and the boardwalk area and seeing two fireworks shows.

Nothing is out at this point!!!

For BC, are the 2 parks you can walk to Epcot and HS? And are those the fireworks you can see from the resort as well? Dumb questions, right...

Another vote for AoA. Nice theming, nice rooms maybe even consider a suite. You get a kitchenette.

I do like POR , also we stayed at CSR at Christmas the Pepper Market food court there was really nice. The lights and design it feels like you are outside in a market very cute.

Deluxe I like Beach Club, The Grand, WL, SSR and AK.

I am in the same boat as you for our next trip, and I am in the mindset of trying different places each trip. I have stayed at the Poly, Coronado, POR, and Caribbean Beach resort. I loved all of them but Caribbean is my favorite of the mods....I was skeptical initially because I had heard mixed things about it, but I have to say there was something about the atmosphere there that I just loved. Loved the beach area and lying in the hammocks at night, and watching the fireworks from HS and Epcot from the pool was cool too. Good Luck in your search....planning and researching the resorts is half the fun!

I checked David's DVC. We've used them in the past and everything went really smoothly. Yes, you can walk to Epcot & DHS from BC. We could see a few fireworks from illuminations at BC, but I wouldn't call it prime viewing by any means.

We would most likely be booking a package.

I see Amy went through some of the scenarios of booking a package and a split stay.

I hope that doesn't complicate things!!!!

If we rented DVC points though, wouldn't we actually get more bang for our buck on that room if we had another person or 2 with us? I would think the fewer people in the room, the less value the room has (if that makes sense).

Nice! Just read her post. Smart about the 7-day tix on the first pkg.
Renting points should be a great deal on a villa so I think you'd get a lot of bang for your buck no matter what.

CR Garden rooms would be very nice. Walk would take about 15 minutes to the MK front gate:yay:

I'm confused by this...

What I'm saying is that when you look at many room types, you can book a "view" -- Standard, Pool, Lagoon, Theme Park, Garden, etc. etc.

At the Beach Club Villas, there is no bookable view category. It's just "Studio." And that's because none of them have views that are good enough to charge a differential for.

You can't go wrong with Riverside! It's my all-time favorite of my top-rated resorts!

Our whole family is going to Riverside in July. We LOVE it there! It is absolutely beautiful!!!

The scenery, the rooms, the food court, the boat to Disney Springs, walks along the river, a fantastic store - what more could anyone want??!! You will love it!!!

Definitely look into DVC. I'm in the process of working with an owner right now for a hopeful stay at VGF next December. My first owner contact (both contacted me when seeing I was asking about DVC) had BLT available and we discussed that a lot but she encouraged me to try for VGF since that was my "dream" resort. Both owners are SO nice and so helpful. It took me doing some research on here and another DVC board, and putting myself out there so-to-speak, but it has paid off by meeting these two owners. There are lots of owners that rent their points every year, and there are also the rental agencies like David's as well. To me, it's just such a great way to get to stay at a deluxe resort. We could never have afforded to stay deluxe otherwise.
With DVC as an option, I'd definitely say any of the monorail resorts will definitely give you the "at Disney" feeling, since you are always within sight of and a quick monorail or boat ride away from the MK the entire stay. It doesn't get much better than that, IMO.

How about Coronado Springs business class? The resort is beautiful but it does not scream (or talk loudly) Disney. It's nice though to get a light breakfast and coffee in the lounge during the morning and then snacks, cookies, wine....in the evening. This building is right by the main building and bus stop. Our kids (and ourselves) love the water slide way better than WL. Just an idea.

This is where we stayed over Easter break and it was really nice. CSR is the only place we've stayed (the one other time was 17 years ago). We loved having breakfast in the lounge each morning and I think we swung by one evening to grab a snack. Quick walk to main pool, El Centro, and the bus stop.
Always have a soft spot for CSR. :)

Thanks again for all the suggestions!

I think I need to sit down with my daughter this weekend and just go over all the resorts and see what catches her eye...
