OK, I'm falling for the "snowball effect" by hanging around with you DIS people too much;) (yes, Sherry E, I can hear you laughing all the way over here in AZ:))

I am trying to figure out if I can justify buying a Deluxe AP for myself this year (and maybe today if I can talk myself into it quick before prices go up)

We are taking a trip this fall for 3 nights at the DLH, regular room. Have a AAA rate; don't know how it compares to what AP rates are offering for October 11, 12, 13. How would I find out? I know I could use an AP rate for TWO of our rooms, so double the discount.

Currently doing 3-day parkhoppers. Plus dinner (for 13 people) at Goofy's with current AAA 10% discount planned. AP is 15 percent off?

I guess I'm trying to see if the hotel and Goofy's discount make it worth it, even if I'm not totally sure about how much more I'd make it back for the rest of the year (but we know how that goes!)

Your "year" doesn't start until the first day you use the pass, right? even if I buy it now? I will have follow-up Qs I'm sure.

Y'all are the best!!!

:rotfl2::rotfl2: Another victim of the dreaded DSE!!!!:rotfl2:

A Premium AP will get you 15% off Goofy's and other restaurants. The Deluxe gets you 10% (as does AAA). Premium will get you merchandise discounts; Deluxe won't. I can tell you - I have been closely monitoring the AP rates at the PPH for October, ready to pounce, and they have been bad. $221 is NOT a good AP rate for the PPH, so the hope would be that if a 'usual' good AP rate came along, it would be somewhere in the range of $129 - $179 per night for PPH. Right now, while PPH is $221 per night, the DLH will be higher than that. If DLR decides to release any good October AP rates for any of the hotels at all, they are taking their sweet time in doing it, likely waiting to see how many bookings they can get at the regular, non-discounted rack rate. Do you want me to check on the exact DLH AP rate for your October dates (it will be at least $20 more than the PPH rate I quoted)? Or no?

Yes, when the AP is activated, that is the first day of your year.

I think (bad math calculations on the package rate) I am paying about $250 per night for the DLH with the AAA rate. So you think the DLH will probably be at least $240 at current AP rate?

I'm not a big merchandise person, so that's not as important, and this trip we are staying onsite so no need for the parking on the Premium.

If you have time to check, that would be great, but so far the total discount isn't huge. And with it being Columbus Day, I'm not sure how good they'll get.

The problem with justifying the pass with return trips is that the other 5 in the family won't have them, so I'm not sure that would be a "moneysaver."

Thanks,

The AP hotel calendar is currently showing your October dates (10/11, 10/12 and 10/13) as being $243 per night for the DLH (not including the 15% tax per night, and the Resort Fee of $12 per night plus 15% tax). Now, those are not 'good' AP rates at all - not like what we are accustomed to seeing. So they may suddenly spring some great ones on us in the next few days, or they may only open up select days in October for great rates, or they may not do anything at all.

Thanks for checking for me. I think the AP is probably not going to happen, at least not now. I'll keep my eye on the boards for any smokin' AP rates for October that might make it worth investigating again, even with the $20 price increase.

Any penny saved around here means something more I can do on a vacation, so it's always worth a try.
