Trying to go next weekend (6-8). Need advice

Cant get any rooms at FLA res rates right now. CM at Res told me to try back 5 days prior to arrival, as thats the day most would have to cancel. It would also mean taking the risk of not getting anything OR double booking (Downtown hotel or offsite) and getting stuck with 2 reservations.

Thoughts?

Anyone have any success waiting for cancellations?
