Trying to figure this out...

We're planning a trip in Jan and rented points at the BC for 9 nights. We also just decided to go to St Thomas in Aug so DH isn't going to come for the whole trip in Jan so I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this.

We are at the BC for 9 nights and are planning to add deluxe dining. DH will be joining us for the last 3-4 nights. So what I'm thinking is to remove DH's name from the initial reservation since he won't be with us. So when we add the DP it will just be for ds1, ds2 and myself. Once we check-in, the reservation becomes mine and I can modify it if needed, correct? Then I would add DH's name for the dates he will be there and then as long as I do it more than 48 hours before his check-in, can I add the deluxe dp to him as well?

A renter cannot modify a reservation.

All persons staying in a room must be registered.

The DDP must be purchased for everyone on the reservation for the length of the reservation.

I thought that I'd read that once we arrive and check-in at the resort that at that point the reservation was mine and I could add someone if needed.

We would register my DH for the days he would be there. When we were there last year he wasn't going to go at all and decided at the last minute to come down halfway through and I went to the front desk and added him to the reservation for the days he would be there without a problem. Is DVC different for this?

When I contact the owner we rented from about adding ME once we get our flight numbers I was going to have them take DH's name off the reservation since he wouldn't be there when we check in and I wasn't sure if they would need to see everyone who was on the reservation when we check-in.

I've been searching for the different answers and thought I'd figured it out but maybe not......

What will happen and what is suppose to happen can be two different things.

At check in only one adult needs to be there to check in. Have the owner add the name to the reservation now.

The issue is that you will be paying for the DDP for days when DH won't be there.

You might consider the regular DDP and use DH's credits prior to his arrival.

Thank you His name is already on the reservation so that's all set. I hadn't thought about doing the regular plan and using his credits also. I'll have to look into that to see if it's worth it for us.
