Trying to figure out what type of room(s)

Our party will be my hubby and I, and our 3 adult kids (will be 26, 21 and 18). We need at least a queen or king for us, and each of the 'kids' needs their own bed. Our trip is 2 years away, but I am going to try to stay a either Wilderness Lodge, or Animal Kingdom lodge ( stashing money now!). Can any of you with experience at these two places tell me the most economical way to accomplish this? Thanks!

I would imagine that you are going to need at least two rooms. Each room at those resorts can accomodate 4, possibly 5. Two queen beds and possibly a day bed. Or, you can try to rent points from a DVC owner at either WL or AKL villas. You could do with a two-bedroom. The master bedroom has a king sized bed, the living room has a pullout sofa bed (a double I believe). The second bedroom (actually an attached studio villa) has a queen bed and a pullout sofa bed. Head over to the DVC Rent board and see how it works.

Get a King room for yourself and a room with bunk beds for the 3 'kids'. I believe both AKL and WL have bunk bed rooms.

The bunks are a lifesaver for us. We have two teens who refuse to share a bed!

Unless you rent DVC points (or pay the $$$ to get a DVC unit, if one is even available), you will need two rooms at both of those resorts. There are other deluxe resorts where you can sleep in one room (two queen beds + one daybed) - those may actually be more economical than two rooms at AKL or WL. Although then you'd have only one bathroom.

I wouldn't rule out two rooms at a moderate - you'd have plenty of space for everyone, two TVs, two bathrooms...

Get a deluxe concierge room at BWI. . .it includes two queen beds and a queen pull out sofa. Plenty of room for two parents and three adult kids. . .lol.

ITA the bunkbeds are a great option for your adult children's room. You and your husband can enjoy the privacy of your own room and each of your children get their own bed in the other room.

I don't know how the hotel is laid out, you may not be able to get a king room near the bunkbed room. If being near your kids' room is really important, I would inquire about the location of the king rooms in relation to the bunkbed rooms. I think it would be a real pain if the rooms were really far apart (or if your kids are aggravating leaches that fight constantly, some distance might serve you well ;) ).

Good Luck!

There are only two options I know of, other than getting two rooms, that would offer four separate beds - either the FW cabins (a double and bunks in the bedroom and a Murphy for two in the living room) or the All Star Family Suites (queen in the bedroom, three fold outs in the living room). Otherwise, you are looking at booking two rooms at whatever resort you choose. The family suite has the bonus of two bathrooms, which can really speed up the getting ready process, and both have a kitchen/kitchenette for snacking and "living room" space for just hanging out.

Since you won't be going over the occupancy limit of the room, you could bring an airbed (a twin would probably fit best) and book a room at one of the deluxes that has a twin daybed and two queens. The rooms at CR, Poly, and GF are plenty large enough to do this. The rooms at WL and AKL are not really large enough to add any airbeds for additional sleeping space, and they are not rated for five adults.
