Trying to buy concert tickets

Why does it have to be so hard? I checked my email this morning and found out that Sugarland is coming to our area. Tickets to go on sale today at noon. I went to the ticketmaster site this morning to make sure that my log in and password were good to save time. I got on the computer at 11:57 and just kept hitting the refresh button and at noon got right in. I wanted 2 tickets but already right at noon they were in the last possible section, and then searching again, it went to lawn seats. How is that possible? And I hate having to type the "security" words that they make you put in to search for tickets. They are always the most random words! :rotfl: I am so frustrated and let down. Sugarland is my mom's favorite group and I wanted to surprise her with tickets.... oh well. Maybe they will release more seats as the concert gets closer.

Thanks for letting me vent! :goodvibes

That is a huge reason why I have no desire to go to popular music concerts. Prices are so high, and trying to get good seats (even when the sale first starts!) is ridiculously hard. I just don't want to support those kind of tactics.

Because HUGE blocks of tickets are sold immediately to groups who, in turn, sell them at an extremely marked up price (not scalpers but pretty close!).

When dd21 wants to go to a concert she just automatically attempts to buy lawn seats in the very back and is happy with that!

If there is someone that you REALLY like, the thing to do is join their fanclub. There are always presales for fanclub members.

Websites like Ticketmaster give you the best seats possible when you are attempting to purchase the tickets. My seraching again, you gave up the "best" seats possible at that moment. Been there, done that, learned from my mistake...do not refresh or search again!

This is what I did when Sugarland and the Jonas Bros. came to town. There was no way I was taking a chance at not getting tickets.

There are never good seats online the day tickets go onsale unless you are at a physical ticketmaster location.

I do know that the closer it gets to a concert more seats are released and they are usually better seats. You have to keep checking and hopefully get lucky. Sometimes I have found floor seating 2 weeks before a concert, sometime the actual day before. You never know. The luckiest I ever got was when Brad Paisley was in town. I wanted tickets so bad. The day of the concert I kept searching and searching and then literally 2 hours before the concert tickets started popping up. I ended up with 2nd row from the stage DEAD CENTER!! He had a catwalk come out from the center of the stage and I was literally right up against the catwalk. It was the greatest concert in the best seats ever!

Dont give up keep checking!

The concert business is about the least customer-friendly business model on the planet. :sad2:

concert tickets have gotten tough. If you have a band you really like...sign up at their websites. Lots of times they will release tickets presale for members of the website. The tragically hip does this and I was able to get 2nd row seats for a show that sold out very quickly once tickets went onsale to the general public.

The only thing with country acts that I've noticed is that lots of them will charge you to be a member of their fansite, which isn't fair. I only sign up with bands that offer free membership.

This. That's how I've always been able to get exactly the seats (or general admission locations) I've wanted at every concert I've ever wanted to go to, including those at 2 Foo Fighters shows at the Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas which, at the time, held a maximum capacity of like 1200 people. You might also try signing up to get emails from AEG...I know I've seen presale info for other groups in their emails, which I only get about once every few weeks (or slightly more often if there's a big concert announcement or something that comes out).

If I'm online when the tickets go on sale I usually get something decent. A couple of years back I got great floor seats to Tool. We were so close to the stage it was awesome.

Even with a presale code for Taylor Swift, we barely got tickets at all. I got 1 set at the back of the arena, my friend got 2 seats in the upper level. We both started trying the second the presale started. Those were the only seats we ever even pulled up, and it took 20 minutes of the ticket master screen spinning to get them. I have never EVER had such a problem getting tickets like I did for those. But since there were none left for the public sale, we are thankful we have tickets at all.

I feel your frustration. I needed to get Taylor Swift tickets for my girls for Christmas. Joined every group possible to get presale codes. The concert was "sold out" before they ever went on sale, because big companies bought all the tickets. I ended up having to spend double the price on stubhub to get them tickets. Seeing their faces and excitement at Christmas was worth it, but its so frustrating and aggrivating that companies are allowed to do this.

For the Hannah Montana concert a couple of years ago, the one where there NO tickets to be had by thousands of disappointed preteen girls, I bought tickets off ebay. I paid maybe just a few dollars more than the original price, but was able to at least choose from many sellers and seat locations. I got front row in the upper level. I'm not saying that I approve of this method :confused3, but you do what you gotta do. ;)

It's legal to buy and sell on ebay. It's just that certain states have laws regarding scalping, so depending on where you are, you might not be able to sell for more than face value. I know you can't here.

But I've bought many concert/event tickets on both ebay and Stub Hub with no problems whatsoever.

I'm a member of warehouse (dmb fanclub), if you choose to buy your tickets from them and you resell your warehouse tickets on ebay, they find out, you lose your membership. It has happened. You are also limited to one membership per person. Some people find a way around this using multiple credit cards.

Also hubby works for a company that has the ability to buy Notre Dame sports tickets, if he resells them for more than face or via places like ebay/stubhub, they could lose their ticket buying ability.

Not all tickets are created equal.
