I have a one week package at Pop for this October arriving on a Friday. We have had a slight change in plans and are going to arrive two days early I checked the Disney site for availability so we changed our flights to arrive early BUT I didn't change the hotel until the next day and by then it wasn't available.

I then tried adding the two days separately and found rooms but it turns out it is open for a standard room Wed night but only a preferred pool view room Thurs and then our package starts Friday with a standard room. It won't allow me to book the package starting Wednesday because they aren't all the same room category.

I want to be able to use our tickets starting on arrival day Wednesday and also I prepaid for Genie for the package dates too.

I am going to call but can't today due to work however, thought maybe someone has some advice for how to handle this so I can use my tickets on arrival and maybe not lose my pre booked genie. the website does say you can make changes to reservations through this year without losing genie if already prebooked but not sure with this situation. Thanks for any ideas before I get on the phone with them.

The only way you will be able to use package tickets starting on your arrival day would be to change your whole package to include the new dates. This may mean switching hotels or room categories altogether if your original choices are not available for the first two nights. You can try doing this online to see what is available for the entirety of your vacation or call in and ask to speak to someone in guest services to see if they can keep you in Pop the whole time. Alternatively, you could book two nights, room-only in a different resort and/or room category and just find non-park things to do until your package starts.

Thanks. Our family/kids and grandkids are joining us at pop that Friday that our package starts. I think I would have no issues if a standard room was available those two nights I'm wanting to add but it's only a standard one night and a preferred pool view the other night. (can't switch to all preferred pool view either because it's not available for all nights either)
Husband and I want to hit up the Food and Wine before the kids arrived.
Do you think we could switch the 1st two nights to something that is available and do our 8 days tickets even though only staying two nights and then move to pop with room only for the nights our kids are there? Then we would still have the tickets? I'm not sure if that works either I really need to call them just wasn't able to be on hold today.

Whatever you do, do NOT let the CM cancel your existing reservation before the new one is booked. Before Covid we had a change of plans also and it turned into a nightmare. We got an awesome deal on Club Level and when trying to add 2 nights it wouldn't let me. Booking the 2 nights alone would work but without the discount. I called and the CM said he could book the longer stay and keep our discount so he cancelled our trip and tried to book the new one and we ended up having nights without a room. We had 2 nights, no nights then we had 5 nights. Our original reservation was for 7 nights but we wanted to stretch it to 9. We ended up with 9 with a 2 night gap. It took hours and hours to resolve it and we didn't get the room we had to begin with. Good luck!

OMG! what a nightmare! I like being able to book things online myself so I can visually see that it's being done correctly and this makes me nervous.

I've had only a handful of issues in all my years of Disney, the good outweighs the bad 100-1 so don't worry too much. There was one worse than the messed up reservation and it's something I will live by from now on. If you're going to check in after midnight, let them know like 10 times on the day of lol. We showed up at The Contemporary around 2 am and our room was not there as we were a "no show". I made the kids comfortable on the couches in the lobby and they found us a room within 30 minutes lol.

This has been a worry of mine as well because my kids/grandkids flight is landing at 11:45pm! ugh!

Just let the resort know. Our last visit we arrived late and I called twice to let them know.
