Microwave meals...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Leaving next week and I realized I will be there for almost two weeks! I've never gone longer than five days! I know I do not want to eat out every night and I am only staying in the studios (SSR & OKW). Does anyone know of quick easy to make dinner that is microwavable..ly satisfying for a family of four?
Any suggestion will help for this trip or just at home, too!

If you have the ability to pre-make stuff and bring it with you, we usually do things like Beef Stew or Chili. Most of the other microwavable stuff works better for lunches like Soups or Manwich now comes in individual sized mivrowavable bags with the meat and sauce precooked in the sealed pouch.

The microwaves are not very large in the studios. It would be pretty hard to do a good meal for a family.

Your best bet would be to try to get a room near the HH at OKW and use the BBQ grills. That would open up a much larger variety of food that I am sure I don't have to list for you. IMHO I think this is your best option.

There aren't any Trader Joe's in Orlando, by any chance, are there?

They have excellent microwavable meals, without which our entire family would probably starve. (Pathetic, isn't it.)

I know it's solid fat, but the Chef Boy-R-Dee microwaveable are pretty darn good.

Or of course you can't go wrong with Nathan's hot dogs.

I'm not sure if there are any Trader Joe's down there, we LOVE them too!! We have done frozen Stofflers stuff. They usually come in different sizes and are available at any grocery store. The lasagna with bread and a bag of salad is good. They also have cassereoles. We have 4 kids, so we always get a 2 bedroom and have a full kitchen. We enjoy having a few meals in the room, not having to wait for a table and being able to eat barefooted in front of the t.v. :)

Giordano's delivers?!? Wow, I'll have to remember that... Why only to SSR and OKW? Just a distance thing?

I guess anybody that has gone has had the full kitchen. I guess I'll just get some takeout, too. Thanks!

It may not be a balanced meal but you can't beat the Kraft easy mac for kids!!!!

Well...it's a little more trouble than the "pop it into the oven ones", but one of my favorite things to do is buy a rotisserie chicken, and de-bone it to save space in the fridge. You can do SO many things with that. Add a bag of pre-washed salad, some croutons (or even toast and break apart bread), some shredded romano cheese, and dressing....and you've got a really good caesar salad.

I also love to make chicken enchiladas like this. Wrap some corn tortillas in a wet paper towel, microwave for about 25 seconds to "steam" them soft. Add chicken and shredded cheddar cheese and roll them. Put them on a plate, pour over canned enchilada sauce and top with more shredded cheese. Microwave for about 35 seconds. Serve with shredded lettuce and cubed (or cherry) tomatoes and salsa and chips. It's really yummy, and totally microwaveable.

For b'fast, you can toast an english muffin. Take one egg and scramble it in a paper cup, and add salt and pepper. Microwave for one minute. Put it on the english muffin with a slice of cheese and a slice of ham (or microwaveable bacon). Microwave long enough for the cheese to melt, and you have a great breakfast sandwich.

You can find some meals at the general store at OKW for the micro. They must have them at SSR also. If you have a car--Goodings is the place to go to get pre-made meals for the micro. It is not far from where you are staying-driving that is. Also the Earl of Sandwich is not far from SSR, you can get salads and sandwiches to take back there. :flower: :sunny: :)
