After being on ww since January and being at a standstill, I'm going to try Atkins. I just came back from B&N and bought the Atkins Essentials and the Diet Revolution. The induction phase seems kind of hard to do, but, I'm going to try. I have a solid 10lbs to lose and I'm determined to lose this added weight by May. I'll go shopping tomorrow and get all the protein foods as well as the low carb veggies allowed for these first 2 weeks. For those of you who are on atkins can you give me any tips/tricks or just some of your know-hows on how to make the induction phase go as smoothly as possible. One thing I don't like already is giving up my cup of coffee in the a.m.. I only drink 2 cups of coffee a day, but, I really hate to give up the caffeine. Any tips on mastering that. THanks in advance for all your help.......

I am on Atkins and like you only have 10-15 to lose. I have tried it several times and it never works for me. I keep thinking that I am doing something wrong and try again. One thing that I have done this time is go to www.atkins.com and get recepies and such that are allowed in induction. I have had several that have been great. I also went to Costco and got some frozen fish that was really easy and quick to cook so I didn't have to spend a lot of time in the kitchen where my family has great food to eat. I have enjoyed the diet much better this time with more preparation on my part, but I still miss sugar. That is my biggest problem. As for the caffine, I think you should give it up for 2 weeks to be successful. Good luck.

I have been on it since January, and I gradually reduced my carb intake until I thought my body would be able to handle dropping down to 20 grams of carbs a day.

Now I do not really need that many carbs to function daily - around 30grams, and I am doing fine.

I did have a half apple today and some reduced carb pasta for easter!!!

Get all the junk out of the house!! Serious, this is my downfall. I restarted Atkins last week and on day 4, it was my DS's 3rd birthday...complete with a big ole cake. It was my downfall....I never made it past day 4. But when I did Atkins last year I was able to drop 17 pounds.

But I am going to try again this week after grocery day. Right now I don't have alot of induction foods in the house.

My advice: make sure you have alot of food onhand that is already prepared. Chicken or Tuna salad, deviled eggs or egg salad, cooked grilled chicken. That way when you get hungry you will have something to grab and less time to think about the bad stuff you could eat.

Drink lots of water, it will help you feel full.

I like to take an Atkins Chocolate Delight shake and put it into an empty water bottle. Then when I get an urge to eat something sweet, I just take a few sips of the Atkins shake and the urge goes away. But make sure to count it towards your daily carb intake.

Work out, the weight won't come off from Atkins alone.

Don't wait until you are starving to eat. This is another downfall for me. If I am starving, I will just grab anything in sight.

Good luck. I will be joining you on Wednesday.
