We've hiked to Honeymoon beach twice. It's incredibly beautiful! You can walk from the ferry to the entrance to the Lind Point trail(next to National Park visitor's center). It's a nice hike, but the trail is rocky and can be muddy(slippery) after it rains. It takes about 30 minutes to hike there. Since we did this on our own on a day in port, we got off the ship ASAP and took a cab/ferry to St. John. For our return time, we left the beach several hours before all aboard time since there are so many steps involved in getting back to the ship. (30min hike, wait for next ferry, take ferry, cab). Honeymoon beach is truly spectacular & uncrowded even when we were there with 6 ships in port. Honeymoon has amazing snorkeling too. If you aren't concerned with snorkeling, it may be easier to visit Trunk Bay. We haven't had a chance to visit Trunk Bay yet, but it looks beautiful. Also, many people rave about Cinnamon Bay too. You can easily take a cab to Cinnamon and there are facilities there as well.
This first photo was taken at Salomon Bay, right next to Honeymoon beach & can be reached via Lind Point trail too. Last 2 photos are from Honeymoon beach:
