True or False...a child can use a parent's FP?

But can't 1 person have more than 1 MB linked to their ticket? My understand was that the MBs were clones of each other and either would work. Is that only the case in the park? Or would that other band work as a room key also? Say you took a trip in March getting 1 MB and then another in May getting you your 2nd MB. Would only the 2nd MB work as a room key while both would work for park entrance and FP+?

All cloned MagicBands will work for room access, park entrance, FP lines, photopass/Memory Maker, and for charging purchases.

So then isn't Disney issuing "extra" room keys each time they send out new MBs to those that already have a MDE account and a previous on-site stay?

If Disney won't give them a room key couldn't they purchase an additional MB and link it the ticket they are wanting to use the FP+s for even though that ticket will not be used to enter the park? Then there would MB to leave at the resort for enter the room during the day.

Yes to everything. Disney does state a guest will be issued a plastic ticket if it is requested. All the guest has to state is they hate the MB and prefer the hard, plastic ticket. There's no reason to have to purchase another MB when the resort can easily issue the plastic ticket.

That's one of the things my wife said...that she doesn't like the way the MB feels (which she really doesn't). The response was "you don't have to wear it...you can carry it". The CM also said they only have a limited number of cards, and that once they were gone, they were gone. And that this was the way of the future. (I assume she meant the "no cards for rooms" thing, but maybe she was referring to her customer service skill set).

It sounds like a poorly trained CM. It would not be the FIRST time, I assure you. I'd try again with a better trained CM. maybe a manager if need be.(probably not)

I have found that at WDW whenever I try to do something outside the norm, it doesn't always go well. If the CM is clearly out of their league, it's maybe time to nicely ask a manager to help. Often at WDW a manager or other CM will magically appear all on their own.

False, according to a front desk person at Beach Club. My wife asked for a room key for various reasons, and in the course of conversation mentioned one of the reasons was that the kids could use her FP sometimes ( she doesn't always go to the parks with us). The gal said, "You can't do that. That's not the way the system is supposed to work". They wouldn't give my wife an extra key.

BTW, we have been letting the kids use our FPs without incident.

Perhaps what the CM meant is FPs aren't supposed to be used if a ticket hasn't been used to enter a park.

Your question is really 'true or false a child can use a parent's FP if the parent HASN'T used a ticket to enter a park.'

True because there is a glitch
False because FP are MEANT to be used when a ticket has been used for admission

It's different if someone uses a ticket to enter a park and wants to let someone else use their FP while they sit out a ride. In my mind anyway!

We swapped Magic Bands last year when someone didn't want to go on a ride that we had a FP+ for and had no issues at all.

I don't ride thrill rides but I make FPs for myself for my niece who does, and I just give her my MB when she goes to ride...

Only if you give them your magic band. Obviously they will not provide you with an extra key for that purpose, but you can trade bands in the park, or bring along an extra band that is assigned to her if she doesn't intend to come to the park. (If you only have one band per person you will need some other way to get another device linked to her account - likely by not telling anybody that you want it for that reason)

I get that they are not going to help you set it up so you can do that, but you can.

Or trade keys. No need for an extra key.

I want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly - my MB from last year's trip should be able to open the door of my current room reservation since both trips were booked under the same MDE account?

So if I bring my old MB with us, I could theoretically leave that band with part of our group to use as a room key if they do not want to go to the park, then take those people's current MBs to the park and use their FPs?

Just wanted to note that it's not a strictly verboten rule to not give keycards out. When we visited in November, we had a room only resrvation at CR and my mom had a package with a studio room at BLT. We asked for a extra key to her room, so one of our kids could stay with her, and give us a little more room in the non-DVC room. Front desk had no problem giving us the keycard, and even offered to make us more than one. So, as long as you're not trying to game the system and get someone into the room who isn't on any reservation, or exceed max occupancy, you may get lucky.

Yes to both questions.
