Christmas eve our Jewish neighbors, who we never exchange anything with, brought over an armload of gifts for our entire family as we were headed out the door for church! It was obvious they were so in the holiday spirit, and I felt very touched that they remembered us on Christmas Eve. This is the same family whose daughter helped me baked Christmas cookies one year because, being Jewish, she never gets to bake Christmas cookies very often (her words:rotfl: ) Oh! And one Friday night their college-age son spent hours sitting on our back deck with my 12 year old son jamming on their guitars and showing my son some tips. What a special family, and they have always been great neighbors. I'll have to send some Christmas cookies over to them later today!:goodvibes

Any other good holiday spirit stories to share???

We spent yesterday at the ER with my mom. A local group had a free christmas dinner. There were a lot of volunteers, the food was delicious. It may sound silly buy even though we had to spend Christmas at the hospital I am still glad we were able to have a Christmas meal. And we needed a good meal rather then junk from the vending machine. I can't explain how much that meal meant.

Thank you for sharing your stories. It's always so nice to hear when something good happens. :)

What a wonderful relationship you have with your neighbours. And what a great opportunity to learn more about Channukah! (I keep telling my DH that we are going to start celebrating that as well because I think it's one of the most meaningful holidays there is.)

When DH was working on Christmas Eve, a group of carollers came into his restaurant. He said that was really nice. He gave them some warm rum and then they want on their merry way, greeting the townsfolk with song.

When I was a kid, all the choral groups I belonged to went caroling in the nursing homes at some point. It never really felt important, just what we did. This year my mom is in a nursing home and I can't tell you how beautiful those carolers sounded. She smiled and smiled.
