Just looked at my checking acct and saw that my TRU purchase from that BF midnight opening was submitted twice. Called my bank to dispute the debit card charge, they said to call TRU as well. Just got off the phone with our TRU store who said it was a national problem and everyone who made debit/cc purchases BF was double charged as the system submitted twice. Apparently corporate is working on it but that doesn't help me right now.

What a nightmare! First we wait hours on a wet cold holiday evening for zhu zhus & ipods, then nearly get trampled when people not in line rush thru both the entrance door and the exit door pushing, shoving and shouting, now they charge everyone twice??? To say that I am livid is an understatement. This is the week when all my bills come out of my checking acct and to be short several hundred dollars is a real budget buster.

If you shopped TRU on BF, be sure to check your statements/transactions today.

OT- can I steal your Love and Joy signature? I love it!

And this was the first year I skipped toysrus. And now I am thinking good thing I did. There are people also saying check what exactly they charged you- some got double charged for things- others didn't get the doorbuster price. Sounds like a huge mess and a big PR hit for the company. The change in return policy down to 30 days was enough to stop me from shopping there all the time. I do buy some things but not the majority like I used to.

Wow, that stinks. I was at BRU so I'll have to check that just to be sure. I hope it gets resolved quickly. Nothing worse than that stuff happening during the holidays ....

Isn't that awesome? I love the colors. The siggie was courtesy of GRUMPY PIRATE who generously shared it with other dis-ers. :worship:

DD20 just checked her acct balance online and she was charged twice too for her TRU BF electronics purchase. Glad I thought to have her log in and check. The last thing a college kid needs is a service charge for a half dozen under $5 Burger King/Taco Bell charges b/c TRU messed up...

Shopped TRU on BF. Just checked my CC statement and there was not duplicate charge. We didn't make it to TRU until nearly 10am, so maybe they had it cleared up by then. :confused3

Ick that really stinks. I hope it all gets cleared up quickly. The only advice I can offer is maybe in the future use a credit card. For almost all of my purchases I use a rewards credit card so that if there is ever a problem I am able to eaily dispute without being out of the money right away.

I especially do this with online purchases.

Good luck!

Wow, that's unfortunate. I hope everyone checks their statements and/or all double charges get automatically reversed. A double charge there can be quite significant since I assume most people spent a lot of money.

On a lighter note, I'm so glad you posted this thread because I've been seeing TRU over and over on this board and I never knew what it meant. I was assuming it was a big localized chain that we don't have here, but I just realized you were abbreviating Toys R Us. I learn something new every day!

That's really interesting. The same thing happened to me - last year. I did some shopping there on Christmas Eve and did not notice until quite some time later that I had been charged twice. When I noticed it, I called my bank who told me to call TRU. TRU claimed they could only correct it if I could provide a bank statement to prove it. My mom had just been diagnosed with terminal cancer at Thanksgiving so it wasn't until after she died that I even thought of it again. This particular store is about an hour's drive away and I figured after all that time I was probably just out of luck so I didn't pursue it. But I find it interesting that it's happening again. I wonder if there is some sort of glitch in their system that only happens during really busy times or if they just figure most people will be too rushed to notice.

Thanks for posting. I know several people who were there that night. My husband also worked that night at TRU midnight to 8:30am but he did manage to get a DSi and if that was double charged on his debit card it's going to be a problem since we're going down to Disney Thursday.

I wondered that too just by the way the girl who answered at our store knew exactly what I wanted when I asked to speak with the manager and said right away "Oh corporate's working on that". Funny it happened at the end of the month when they probably reported BF sales and monthly profits. Makes you wonder how accurate those figures really are...

Initially, when I called my bank this morning they said I'd probably have to give them info from the receipt when I called TRU and I was panicking b/c I couldn't find it. I remember emptying the bag out on the bedroom floor and stashing items at 6 am after a night out waiting in lines. I can see thre receipts laying on the carpet in my mind but, for the life of me, can't find them right now so it's actually a really good thing for me that this glitch affects more than me or I'd be really crazy by now with a house so torn apart it'd be next year before it looked company-ready again.

By the time DD20 called the bank to dispute the charges she made on her own acct a few hours later, the our bank was already familiar with the issue so I'm guessing ours were not the only accounts affected. Just hoping that means maybe it won't take too long to get it all corrected.

Noticed yesterday and went into the store to talk to TRU. They told me it would be fixed by Wednesday. The charge was already gone this morning.

Hey! I did returns on BF do you think they gave me back twice as much money? Hmm.... maybe they wouldn't catch that. :rotfl:

Just checked my bank account and today I was charged for the 3rd time. Luckily we only spent $73...but it is starting to add up! My husband is headed to the bank now...
